M6 toll road

I hope TeleAtlas will finally include the M6 toll road on the next UK version.

You're lucky, they only miss one road for the UK - they seem to have missed my entire country. Why can't Mapopolis or Tom Tom or someone with a reasonable GPS app support Australia.

Yeah... but only one of them. I imagine it would be easy for the cartographers having to draw just one line. And the routing software would just have to list 'Sydney' and 'bush' (BTW the latter references 'unpopulated country regions' not 'your nation's [current - TBA] leader').

Seriously, I am told the reason why Australia has been neglected is due to contractual obligations and territorial agreements. Very frustrating when I actually know people who have complete vector maps of Australia and are wanting to market them for PDAs.

The Navman app supports Australian roads. If you already have a GPS unit, the part number of the Navman for Palm with the Oz maps but no BT GPSr is AA008002.

Navman say it will be a low volume sales item so almost certainly any retailer will have to order it in; won't be on the shelves. Contact navman 02 9879 9000 between 9am - 5pm weekdays and they will let you know a retailer close to you.

Thanks for the tip. I will check it out on Monday. Last time I talked to Navman they refused to offer the product without the GPS unit (as you suggested I have a GPS receiver). Navman will do the job nicely indeed. Thanks again.

I find it a little odd that they don't offer the software without a GPS receiver, for those of us who already have one.

They will eventually. It took some time when TTN3 was announced (for PPC) for them to market a GPS-less version.

Also, they used to do free or reduced price upgrades for TTN2 owners so lets hope that there would be a similar program for this.

Ditto on the bundling. I have way too many receivers floating around my garage.

They used to have software only pictured on their site (even though it said it was not yet available for Palm OS). Now I don't even see that any more.

I want to give them my money...

But there are no demos available, no software available for those of us who already own the GPS hardware, and no access to support unless you are a customer. You can't even email them. Seems like they are trying hard to avoid customers.

The previous version did not have one. Since they didn't mention it on the news, it probably doesn't.

TTN3 for PPC supports contacts integration, I would expect to see the PalmOS version integrating the address book function with route planning.

How's the signal compares to TomTom GO standalone version?

Also, can I put all maps in SD card so I don't have to load maps between states?
