RE: Amazing Progress Made!
Now I am back to unsecured backups. I hope BackUpMan adds encryption or even a password protected backup feature soon.

RE: Amazing Progress Made, but....
I upgraded to v. 3.0 some time ago. I wanted the encryption (vs. Backupman). But the first time I needed it, it failed me. I can't say for sure it was a fault of BBVFS, but I don't have any better explanation. Somehow some of my backup files had been corrupted making it impossible to use after I restored the entire system. I had just performed a backup in preparation of trying out some new software, so I assumed I would have no problem after a hard reset. No such luck. I particularly remember that my ZLauncher background JPG file was completely "mangled", causing ZLauncher to malfuntion. After trying a bunch of things and still not knowing the extent of the damage, I finally gave up, waited until I got home, and restored the whole thing with BackupBuddy (desktop program). It worked without a hitch, and I fortunately could remember all the appointments and other information I had added that day.
Moral of the story? Having two separate backup systems might be a very good idea.
The $10 mil question...

RE: The $10 mil question...
Looked promising... As far as I can tell, CardBackup, FlyBackUp, McFile, all fail trying to back the T5 up to SD. Anyone else?

RE: The $10 mil question...
2. It will not work on T5. When I switched to T5, BBVFS V3 crashed. Emailed Blue Nomad, and they confirmed v3 is not ready for T5. They are working on a new release.
3. Actually, to be best of my knowledge, no backup program works with T5 - yet. Some user has reported success with MegaLauncher's backup utility (originally part of MegaCommander), but not for me.

RE: The $10 mil question...
Version 1.8 Released last week sometime, specifically to fix for T5. I'd read about pre-1.8 problems, and hadn't moved it to T5 until the 1.8 upgrade. Hope this helps.
RE: The $10 mil question...
That's strange. I tested 1.8 and got the terminal blinkies. It works, huh? Wonder if I have to start from scratch again - I'm thinking maybe my button hacks have corrupted the prefs or something...

Great program, dissapointing cost to update.
Luckily though, v2.1 still works perfectly on my TH55, so I don't really need to upgrade.
If you don't already own BB:VFS you really should.
It's a great backup program, if not THE greatest.
I can't fault BlueNomad for doing what just about every other PalmOS developer is doing nowadays.
They got kids to feed too I suppose.
RE: Great program, dissapointing cost to update.
See our BBVFS download page for more info and a link to version history:

RE: anything freeware available
Seriously, though, I have been using Palms for a long time and HotSync seems to work pretty well for most "well-behaved" applications. Granted, I run almost everything off of my SD card now anyhow, so it is less of a point.
Also, you can always go through with Filez and mark the backup bit of important databases to force them to be included in a HotSync.
Anybody else wonder why PalmSource has not bought this technology from BlueNomad yet??

RE: anything freeware available
However, Hotsync and BlueNomad do two entirely different things: BlueNomad can backup and restore a Palm ON THE ROAD, while Hotsync needs a PC for this task!

IMO
Relying on a hotsync to back up your data is slaving a mobile device to a non-mobile one, thus negating it's "mobilocity.
