RE: What about the Treo 650?
I presume that this has been in the works for some time and will be welcomed by more than a few Treo 600 users. With the newly-released Treo 650 and its unique Athena connector, there likely hasn't been enough time to cobble something similar together for the 650. Also, keep in mind that the 650 seems to be fairly hackable in regards to SDIO wi-fi so that might be the plan for the future for that particular model.

Doubtful of simultaneous wi-fi and phone use
The problem was how the incoming call would interrupt the current program I think. The GPS software would start and it would "lock" the serial port in software so no other program could use it. It would normally "unlock" the port when you exited the program. However an incoming call would interrupt the program without letting it unlock the port. So when you returned to the GPS software it would complain that the port was already in use by another program.
It's not just the physical ports either, another user described the exact same behavior on his 650 with a bluetooth GPS.

when will an athena connector wifi sled come out?
The world will end in 2006. Just as it was predicted in the bible along with the release of Microsoft Longhorn.... :p
