Coming to America?

LiveFaith @ 2/14/2005 12:06:01 PM # Q
Pretty sweet. That 160x240 thing still makes me wonder, but the more Palms the merrier.

Update: According to the GSPDA site a US version is already on the table. Uses the 850 rather than European 900 low-band GSM freq. I'm not sure which one uses that here, Cingular or T-Mob?

Cingular/ATT uses the 850/1900Mhz band in the US. T-Mobile USA uses only the 1900Mhz at this time.

On the way to a low-class smartphone

hobbes1257 @ 2/14/2005 1:01:22 PM # Q

Despite its 1999 design style, I find that its a decent proposal for the cheap (I don't know its pricing yet) smartphones segment.

Now, if I could find out whether it could syncs with an iBook and what apps i could run (160x160?), I'd consider acquiring one... ;-)

I wouldn't mind ditching my Symbian Nokia for a good ol' Palm device. Imagine all the software one can load onto a Palm Smartphone!

GSPGA is inpressing.

temp_user @ 2/14/2005 2:56:53 PM # Q
Man I am impressed by GSPDA, they are fast, and innovative. I hope they inspire Samsung, because I've feeling Samsung will make a phone based on Cobalt that will blew everything away in the market!
Samsung, what is taking you so long?

GSPDA is certainly innovating in the Palm OS smartphone area. Indeed they are offering a variety of choices and some of the smallest Palm OS smartphones in the market.

Though their smartphones only provide a low resolution screen. But given the small physical dimenions of the screen, a lower resolution actually is good enough. The first few generations of GSPDA smartphones have some known bugs. In this newest release, I hope most of those bugs are gone.

GSPDA is a company based in Hong Kong.

I don't believe it. Palm smartphone in Europe? Samsung can jump out the nearest window - as soon as this baby's available in my local shop I'm upgrading!

Processor speed?

hbuchtel @ 2/18/2005 12:28:22 AM # Q
Anybody know the processor speed?

'ARM 9 OMAP 310 processor' . . . but I cannot find anything else . . .

Strange they don't include this with the list of standard specs!

SERIOUS bugs in GSPDA's xplore phone/pda line-up

thomasbkk @ 2/18/2005 12:25:40 PM # Q
Anybody contemplating buying ANY of GSPDA's xplore phones should try searching user comments - there are entire forums dedicated to flaming this manufacturer's products - with good reason (my wife bought m28 Jan. 1st, sold it 6 weeks later at 55% loss after trying to get it to do just SOME of what was advertised)

Try:

Don't EVER buy GSPDA xplore mobiles!
