How stupid is this?
You're dealing with a frikkin 320x320 Small Square Screen. Like, how fekkin *far* can your finger travel?
Give me a break, fanboiz.
Cute, but
Wrong iPhone App to emulate...
It's great to see developers trying to extend the functionality of the Treo to keep it on par with the newer phones out there like the iPhone, but how many of these contact scroller apps are really needed? Besides, as has been said, it's just not as functional as the built in Phone/Contacts combo or TakePhone or others.
Now, it'd be great if these developers focused their efforts bringing an iPhone type Safari browser to the Treo. Take some of the ideas they have and assist with the Universe browswer project or something.

Cute and promising for segment of users
The Centro has revitalized sales for Palm during a very very tough period for them. It's bringing an entirely new group of users to the table, and it's wonderful to see developers stepping up to address the interests and passions of this group--they are younger and far more female than 'us old guys' that have been lurking around PIC for years now. (Apologies to all those of you much younger than myself)
Yes, there are loads of issues with the app-- it's a flippin' beta, so I'd expect that. We could debate whether they should have called it version 0.40 or 0.94 to manage expectations a bit, but at the end of the day, it's good for the community when developers look around, find an opportunity to meet a need, and innovate into it. It's the way this works. And it takes time for a developer with a seed of a new idea (or a repackaged or even copied old idea) to integrate it with additional features and functionality.
Whether it's learning from TakePhone or PhoneMagic, or borrowing interface ideas from the iPhone or some other device, it's all about looking for customers who will say "hey, that's cool and that helps me." For a teenager with a list of 60 friends (all entered by first name only!) for whom each has a picture but no address or company name, there are going to be lots of creative ideas that will potentially arise. It takes that developer beginning to get their application out into the market and hearing 'customer' feedback. That's the important thing to remember-- and now I'm talking directly to the developer--
MetaViewSoft, hang in there. Getting this lot here on PIC to comment on your app is a little like doing a Spanish stand-up routine in to a group of Japanese businessmen who came for Karaoke. Listen to the real customers-- not those of us who have been using Pilot 5000s through LifeDrives for nearly a decade, with a list of biases as long as a teenager's iPod playlist.
OK
