Comments on: Verizon Treo 755p Reportedly Now Available
Many recent reports from Verizon Wireless corporate employees were suggesting a November 28th launch date but then some corporate store staff reported that the device had failed testing and was being "sent back" for further tests. Just last week Palm issued a warning regarding a forthcoming Q2 loss to be reported. Their earnings for the quarter were adversely affected by a carrier-delayed device, widely acknowledged to be the Verizon 755p.

However, as of today it's available online, so the point may be moot.

Add it up.
Verizon 755p for $449 w/2yr
Sprint Centtro for $99 w/2yr
Centro is slimmer, shorter, thinner and has the exact same feature set. Sprint has far cheaper data as well.
Gee, this is really going to sell well isn't it.
RE: Add it up.
Now, underhood, the Centro is a far superior device to the 755p---less lag, superior camera quality, OS tweaks, newer/better PIM apps & bundled software, etc etc.
A shame Palm didn't work the Centro magic first on the 755p. Well, there's still a glimmer of hope (HAH!) that a 775p is forthcoming later in '08 with all of the above touches + Google Maps Location finder enabled + a few gigs of internal flash storage...

RE: Add it up.
Sprint 755p:
$349.99: w/ 2yr contract
$249.99: w/ current web special
VerizonWireless 755p:
$449.99: w/ 2yer contract
$299.99: w/ discounts and rebates mentioned above.
However:
* What does one have to do to get the VerizonWireless rebate? Probably commit the their '"Unlimited" Broadband service' at about $50 extra per month.
* What does one have to do to get the Sprint special? Probably nothing, other than ordering from the web.
* How much are VerizonWireless's Data Plans?
* How much are Sprint's Data Plans?
RE: Add it up.
In some areas Sprint has the better penetration, in others Verizon does. If you don't have a reliable network, who cares what the darn phone costs?
In my particular geographical location, Sprint is not a viable option.
