Word is that the slim extended battery will be 1600mAh. So still not quite as powerful as the 650/700, but much closer than the 1200mAh one we got given. Hopefully it won't be too long before it comes out.

Gekko coined "FrankenGarnet" and I coined "Rumpshaker" as related to the Seidio battery.

You cannot ask for better astroturfing/guerilla marketing than that!

Clarification?

mes700 @ 12/22/2006 10:38:48 PM # Q
Your article says:

"Additionally, Seidio also offers the ultimate in Treo aftermarket batteries, a huge 3200mAh unit bundled with a replacement battery door with integrated reset button opening. This battery is exclusively for older Treo formfactors (Treo 600, 650, 700p, 700w/wx). This battery is currently on sale for $54.95."

However, when you go to the link for more info on the battery, it does not indicate it works on the 600 or 650. Can you clarify this?

I can assure you it won't work on a 600... ain't no battery door on that puppy.

The 3200 mAh is only compatible with the 700 series. I updated the article to reflect that.

There is a higher capacity battery available for the 650 and 700 modes that is 2400 mAh and does not require a larger back cover:

yes, this would make a great holiday present i think, but a battery this big would have to get hot and lessen the lifespan of the treo itself, i just burnt out a phone by doing this, but it does hold alot of juice.....hot...warm....juice

Thin is out

costein @ 12/26/2006 4:47:36 AM # Q
Hey c'mon! No more thin models down the catwalk, no more dieting.
New slogan: Thick is it

No, but seriously, this goes against the whole idea of a compact Treo 680. They could of at least (at the same form factor) put in a more powerful battery. it is possible. Look at the cell phone manufacturers: Motorola, Nokia, Sony Ericsson...the batteries there stand up at least around a week.
I would think that Palm at least would have hit 2-3 days on a modern battery.

I don't mind purchasing a bulkier batterty for occasional daily use i.e. a trip or something. 90% of the time I wouldn't be using it.

BTW, there is notification of a delay on the site so they will not be shipping for a few weeks.

when this gets reviewed a thermometer should be used, when charging and when in heavy use. i would like a battery this powerful, but it sounds like it will void the warranty with good reason.

A longer lasting battery doesn't void any warranties any more than using a Treo while being charged for 12 straight hours would void the warranty.

Seidio scam

ray00pal @ 1/3/2007 12:34:27 AM # Q
You all have failen into a scam! They announced something that no one else has. After getting all the attention and free marketing advantages, they now said they don't have it. They will probably make it available the exact same time as other online stores.

Just like any other people. The best way to handle this is ban scum bag like Seidio for half year! Or, have an equally sized annoucement that they DO NOT have it yet.

Forget paying that much. It's on eBay right now under the Cameron Sino (Hong Kong)banner right now for a lot less. I bought the the high capacity TT3 battery of the same brand a few years ago and it was fabulous.

Why is Seidio a "scum bag"? Because they sell the battery that Palm is too numbskulled to put in a Treo in the first place? Any real reasons, besides a product delay, which by the way happens to all sorts of companies all the time.

Is there any other factual reasons for such a ban of a marketer of batteries that have satisfied hordes of Treo users?

Has anyone tried out the Cameron Sino Palm Treo 680 Battery 2400 mAh that is available on e-Bay? Is it working allright for the Treo 680 and does the battery cover fit well for the Treo 680?

thanks,

Varvara

ray00pal @ 2/5/2007 11:54:54 PM # Q
The scam part is to claim being the first to have it!!! They want you to think it is a normal product delay. No, it is a normal early annoucement scam.

magjm @ 2/26/2007 2:48:58 AM # Q
I tried 2 different Cameron Sino batteries for my Treo 680. They both only registered 1188mah capacity. They did not hold charge. I put my Treo 650 batteries in the Treo 680 and they registered 1850mah capacity.

My experience with the Cameron Sino batteries leads me to make the opinion that you will want to return them - make sure the retailer you get them from offers a refund policy!!
