Comments on: Enhance the Treo Keyguard with KeyguardExt

Treo software keyguardextKeyguardExt is a new utility from Megasoft2000. It functions as a Treo keyguard enhancer. It provides a wide range of extra information and customizable functions. Instead of just the time and date, KeyguardExt will display a large clock and date display, a battery meter, memory status, signal strength, bluetooth status, missed calls and messaging information.

KeyguardExt v1.0 is available now for $7.95 and includes a free trial period. It is a small 43kb file. Megasoft says it is currently compatible with the Treo 650, 680 and 700p.

Just an opinion

It is far, far behind KeyguardTime+. But it's nice that developers are still doing something for the Palm Platform before it dies...

As far as I can tell this is a full replacement/enhancement of the built-in Keyguard. If I am not mistaken, KeyGuardTime+ is more like a pop-up clock.

And since KeyGuardTime+ can be configured to launch with the built-in Keyguard, I would think it is more of an add-on then a replacement.

I was seriously considering buying this since I use my phone as a clock and would not mind the big time display and the price was OK. But at 10 bucks seems high for this limited purpose software. Just for comparison, RescoExplorer is twice the price and is rife with functionality. So I think I will live the clock in the built-in Keyguard.

I will say that in my use so far it is a very good, unobtrusive and stable piece of software. So if the price does not bother you, go for it.

I did like the trial, but I would agree that it is limited. ALso, i did not like how it would briefly display the program in use and then swich to the keyguard page. Annoyed me. Really, the built in key guard with 2day installed works perfect. Can see the state of everything.
