RE: It looks neat, but....
While it's true I do not own an iPhone, iPod Touch, or G1 and only owned a BB Storm for a very brief time before returning it, I have found all of them to be inherently less efficient for navigating and recalling data (and let's not even mention how inefficient they are at inputting data!). I've seen little from the Pre that makes me reconsider any of that.
It seems that the industry is taking steps again to look cool, sleek and hip. Jogwheels and 5-way directional pads (and, to a lesser extent, trackballs and styli) were nerdy-looking and dorky, sure, but they were still probably the best method of interacting with a pocket-sized device primarily used for information recall.
And while we all know it's a no-no, let's be realistic and acknowledge that the vast majority of us are going to have to look up a phone number or something while behind the wheel of a car. It's a lot easier to do that one-handed with one of the above methods than having to use 2 hands (1 for holding your device and the other to "flick" and poke inaccurately).

Yep, style over function, every time.
"twrock is infamous around these parts" (from my profile over at Brighthand due to my negative 62 rep points rating)

It looks neat, but....
Also, did you see that it took him 5 flicks to get that contact off the screen?
