Comments on: Sprint Debuts New Commercial for the Pre

Sprint Palm Pre CommercialIn addition to Palm's recent China/nature/zen/danceathon inspired commercial for the Pre, Sprint has produced another TV spot made specifically for the Palm Pre.

Sprint's 30 second commercial revolves around a large live recreation of a Facebook profile. A narrator chimes in and states "Now there is a phone that truly lives in real time, introducing the Palm Pre from Sprint. With a revolutionary WebOS it constantly updates live multiple applications. Designed for the now network." You can catch the clip after the break.

According to the PreCentral post, this ad already aired this Sunday on FOX.

Commercials not on TV = useless? I think that was Google + Yahoo philosophy years ago too. Look what a failure they are. :-/

SV, did you get a Pre?

The only place Palm was showing their TV commercials was on YouTube and their Facebook pages - those are USELESS to "spread the word" because only people who have already HEARD the word will be watching them.

It turns out, though that there is evidence this latest TV commercial actually ran on TV even though Palm itself purportedly said TV commercials start in late June.

Could that be a sign of demand this weekend?...or lack thereof?

Me buy a Pre? No.

However, the $99 iPhone just announced by Apple is interesting...

Wow. You're really not up on how that whole "viral" thing works, are you?

Actually, I am.

Go see the hit count on the STUPID "Claus Campaign".

I know how "viral advertising" works.

And doesn't.

yes the commercial has begun airing. i saw it last night

still happy with my pre even after the announcements from apple...am i the only one finding it a bit underwhelming for a 3RD GENERATION of a device?

I would call the iPhone announced today a 2.1 generation release.

Looks like they did a board turn and firmware update but nothing in major design changes. They have new SKU's to hit different price points and that is about it. The big news is the iPhone SDK 3.0 will be supported on these devices.

Curious to see just how deep in the voice recognition rabbit hole third party developers can hit. I'm sure there is a handful graduate students wanting to put in "their" voice recogntion code in an iPhone at WWDC this week.

I pity those Apple system engineers at WWDC. They are sometimes nothing but week long, whipping boys for those with more technical talent talent and less social skills.

I hope the parties are more than just a bunch of guys sitting at tables talking about code but I doubt it.

I think the faster CPU and addl. memory will allow for better apps. to be developed for the platform.

no real need for real (outward) design changes - these things are selling pretty well.

Doesn't the new iPhone/software have the ability - and SDK API - to easily interface to external hardware devices?

Yes - but alas it can't multitask web apps... :( nor does it have a tiny chicklet keyboard... :( and it doesn't have that tiny 3.1" screen... :( and it costs $99 less... :(

Apple is doomed!!!!!
