InnoPocket Debuts m500 Series Hard Case
InnoPocket has released the Metal Deluxe Case for Palm m500 series, which is made of aircraft aluminum with a thin Neoprene lining. It is intended to protect the Palm against scratches, collisions, and shocks. It offers a cut out on the top to make it easier to access the SD slot. It is available now for $30.
It weighs on 1.6 ounces, almost a full ounce lighter than the Rhinoskin molded hardcase for the m500 series. It is 4.7 by 3.3 by .7 inches. The m505, the largest of the m500 series, is 4.5 by 3.1 by 0.5 inches, so it is tight-fitting.
Initially, InnoPocket has ordered only 1,000 of these. When those are gone, the next shippment won't be in until October 20.

Palm V Series HardCase
RE: Palm V Series HardCase
(Honestly, I don't know why they would, unless they just re-brand one of the 4-6 hard cases there are available now for it.)
What we need now is a M50X hard case smackdown and see which one is the best, or at least a good comparison of them all.

Aircraft Aluminium?
Just curious...

RE: Aircraft Aluminium?
Having said that, I just got my Chameleon (m500 version), which is of course *not* made from aluminium.
It certainly is a very utilitarian (looking) case, but I do have the fullest confidence that it *will* be able to take a beating. Remember the test where it was chucked out of a plane? I doubt if there is another case around that would have the Palm and the case survive.
It is definitely function over style, although it doesn't exactly look ugly (except for the logo on the front cover), but just a bit, shall we say urban.
It's fiddly if you want to sync, as I do think it's best to just take it out of the case, inspite of the other solutions the manufacturer suggests. I have some minor niggles, but the finish is good.
This is maybe not the case to use all the time, but if you are travelling, or want to just throw it into a backpack or a hand bag or to a pal shouting catch, it's the case to have, I reckon.
Basically, you have to ask yourself if you do want maximum protection or if you want to sacrifice some of that for more stylish looks.

Rhinoskin/Franklin Covey Comparison!
Quick rundown:
* The Franklin Covey is slightly less thick than the Rhinoskin (no more than .25").
* They have approximately the same dimensions otherwise.
* The Rhinoskin has a bit of neoprene cushioning inside of it where the FC case has a bit of plastic/rubber that is awfully thin.
* The FC case has a spring latch where the Rhinoskin has a hard latch that now is positioned on the inside of the case, rather than on the outside like the V/Vx hard case used to be.
* The RS has no internal pockets (if RS is reading, please consider an SD pocket
* The FC conforms slightly better to the curves of the m505, but RS is apparently going to replace their current line of V/Vx cases with this case, as it has a set of silo adjustments that come with it to allow someone to put a V/Vx in the case (remember the left hand silo on an m505 is smaller than the standard silo) or put the m505 in for a left handed person. Good idea, Rhinoskin!
My take on the cases:
Rhinoskin all the way. It feels much less flimsy than the Franklin Covey case (it is a bit heavier). The FC case almost feels like plastic. Plus, I don't know how many times I dropped my V/Vx in the old Rhinoskin case, so I trust this one a bit more.
I had been waiting for Rhinoskin to release this case, but had gotten tired of waiting and ordered the FC about a week before Rhinoskin came out with theirs. So, I decided to compare and send one back. I'm definitely glad that Rhinoskin made their case. I doubt that I would have been happy with the Franklin Covey one.

My review/comment on the rhinoskin
the hindge egde is sharp too..but can easily be polished. i like the way it locks tho. i might buy chamelion stylus for Vx since it has enough space for it inside and wont fall out. i settled the m505 in the center of the case so that it wont have much impact when it falls vertically. i have no prob with additional high on top..but they couldve really made it flatter (or thicker neoprene)
i think this case is worth $30 and not $50. if it hadnt for the "Free" clipack it would have really been a total ripoff. but im pretty much secure with my m505 now. just wished it didnt cost that much considering that people who have bought this already have bought the first batch of cases (palms slim leather case). total value of my palm is now $700, other people my be more.
I'm probably 70% satisfied with this comparing to the 30% on the slim leather case i used to have.
For those who already have the innopocket, can you make more reviews and maybe comparison for it?
RE: Security
For the one im replying to: When you said youve dropped your Vx with the rhinohardcase a few times. How far was it to the ground? and was it carpet, wood or concrete?

That said, I bet it is even more protective than the aluminum hard cases talked about here but... it is too big for comphortable pocket cary.
I am going to get one of these other hard cases soon. I guess I will wait untill the Titanium one comes out as well as a few other manufacturers to produce thiers before I decide.
There is a better flip type on the way
Got one
