Alltel Launches Office Sync Wireless Email

Alltel announced today that it is launching Office Sync, which allows users to send and receive e-mail in real time from their Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices. Office Sync also enables customers to view their calendars and contacts while on the go.

Office Sync is initially available on the Palm Treo 650 and the UTStarcom PPC-6700, a Windows Mobile 5.0 Wi-Fi-enabled Pocket PC device.

There are two versions of Office Sync. For individuals and small businesses, the Personal Edition delivers e-mail, calendars and contacts from the customer's personal desktop to his or her smart device. For larger businesses, the Enterprise Server Edition integrates Office Sync with a corporate server operating behind a secure firewall to deliver the information to customers' devices. Both editions are available from Alltel's retail, direct and indirect business channels for $39.99 per month, including unlimited data.

"Office Sync provides customers with the information they need to remain productive from anywhere on America's largest wireless network," said Wade McGill, senior vice president of wireless product management for Alltel. "It's fast, easy to install and use, and empowers Alltel customers with another option for staying in touch while away from their home or office."

Mobile email is often viewed as an arduous and expensive enterprise undertaking or as complex and out of reach for the non-technical consumer. In contrast, mobile email delivered as a service via a leading mobile operator solves these problems and paves the way for a larger percent of mobile phone users to actually benefit from the power and enjoyment of mobile email.

Alltel's Office Sync is powered by SEVEN. SEVEN has been contracted by 90 mobile operators in 54 countries to bring mobile email to market representing approximately 50% growth from 2004 to 2005. As of February 2006, SEVEN had sold 1M plus licenses of its software.
