What's with Palm and their new thought process of not building products with expandable memory?? Is this what Rubenstein brought with him from Apple? Wake up Palm - these aren't iPods or iPhones!

You have to learn to walk before you can run. Palm finally got a modern smartphone out the door. It's for the best that they strip it down to its essentials and get them right before they start adding in every feature under the sun.

I agree. Just let it develop and you'll soon see some upgrades.
Eventually they will try to come up ahead of the competition...
Anyway, this devices are said to come with 8gb of internal storage.
For me, that's more than enough...

Gestures?

Gekko @ 9/8/2009 5:01:02 PM # Q
is there Gestures on that puppy? i didn't care for WebOS on the Pre. it was a clumsy, buggy, laggy, unintuitive implementation. maybe with a real keyboard, a 4-Way Navigation button?, and no Gesture area, this EOS will be more usable?

Gesture Area with center button is right there.

What's this about a NYC intro?!

I think the 5-way was quietly taken out back and shot during webOS' development. (sadly)

At this point, I'll just be happy for them to finally release a freaking GSM webOS device. Pre, Eos, whatever, just give me a damn unlocked 3G GSM Palm!

I wouldn't bet on the d-pad being gone forever - at least not in spirit. It seems to me that my Pre could easily detect gestures across the top of the center button. And the Pre already has a "trackball" mode where left, right, up, and down strokes made while holding down the orange button move the cursor. So it shouldn't be too difficult to interpret strokes across the center button in the same way. The Pixie/Eos looks like it has a relatively large button (I'd be surprised if it turned out to be a true d-pad), so it would function quite well as a virtual d-pad.

freakout - be careful what you wish for.

DR - the Pre navigation AND "trackball" mode is clumsy, inaccurate, and just plain awful. the copy/paste is sad at best.

gekko - believe me, if the GSM Centro was 3G you'd have to make a pretty good case to pry it outta my greasy mitts. but a 2G smartphone in 2009 is just ridiculous. i like what i've seen in the webOS emulator, especially the new messaging system (which is my favourite Treo/Centro feature anyways). wi-fi and GPS are icing on the cake.

your warning has been noted, however. plus, you'll get to say "I told you so" if I hate it. :P
