Video of Palm Pre webOS 1.2 in Action

webos v1.2 video demo If you still haven't got your fill of unauthorized webOS 1.2 information, then perhaps this will sate your desire: jhoff80 has posted a video on YouTube detailing some of the changes in the forthcoming update. Of particular interest is the new copy/paste functionality in the browser, which now lets you select both text and graphics. Huzzah!

Other confirmed browser upgrades include image saving & URL copying (by holding Orange + tapping) and improved zoom on text-entry fields. Also coming is the oft-requested email searching, and a minor change to notification behavior that doesn't seem to be for the better. Hit the jump for the video!

Coming along nicely.

It may have had a slow start with features, but it's maturing quick.

A few more things, and it'll be perfect.
PalmPilot Pro -> Palm 3 -> Palm 5 -> Palm 505 -> Palm T3 -> Treo 700p -> Pre

Perfect?? Never. The screen is too small with small fonts making it impossible for many to comfortable read. Build quality is atrocious. Dead pixels, wonky sliders, etc, etc.

Web OS might mature into something decent, but the Pre is not a great phone. Stick web OS on better hardware and then we'll talk.

The OP obviously was referring to Web OS, not the Pre.

A little bit faster

vetdoctor @ 9/5/2009 11:05:15 AM # Q
With the Palm Treo everytime any change was made (or people were fooled into thinking there was a change) someone would post, "...feels a little bit faster". I personally believe that when theres an upgrade with the cache's flushed a phone may move 0.001 sec faster or more likely its wishful thinking.

Still, this is my wish come true. You can cut and paste from the phone. I did not see him actually paste though, did I miss it or was it assumed? I'd like to see it actually paste into a memo (with the pic?), also I'd like to know if it can cut and paste into an app in the classic app.

Financially, I plan to wait til Dec and tell my wife I "need" a Pre for a Christmas Present.
In short, I had always believed that the world involved magic: now I thought that perhaps it involved a magician.

Its the first version of the pre its not designed to be perfect. All lcd screens including the iphone can get dead pixels and its the first version of the pre its not suppose to be perfect. if u don't ike the keyboard then wait for them to release the touch screen keyboard or download it yourself

I agree Palmfan. I think since the Pre's release, just about EVERYTHING on my particular wishlist has been either patched by Palm or worked around by 3rd parties. This is incredible considering it's only been a few months. I find it tiresome that the people who like the Pre can't simply say "awesome" without being pounced on by trivial nitpicking.

save web pages?

hsu @ 9/6/2009 10:19:49 AM # Q
Images only? What about saving the text of a web page for later, possibly offline where there's no signal, viewing?
