Palm has quietly released the Mac version of the Unlocked GSM Treo 650 update. This rom update brings the treo firmware to v1.20 and includes a number of software updates and improvements. This same update was released for Windows users back in January.

The Verizon Wireless website is now showing the Treo 700p, though the company has yet to make an official announcement. Palm's own Treo store is also now accepting orders on the Treo 700p with service plans from Sprint and Verizon.

The MantraGroup has released mobiVoIP, the first VoIP solution targeted for Palm OS handhelds and smartphones. VoIP, or Voice over IP (pronounced 'voyp'), is a technology that enables making phone calls over the Internet from a wirelessly connected device.

SayIt v1.0 is a new Text To Speech (TTS) application for Palm OS 5.1 and higher devices from Toysoft. SayIt is the first global TTS application for the Palm OS that works with most applications with text editing capabilities.

SayIt will speak selected text in plain English using a synthesized computer voice. The user interface allows you to follow the text as SayIt speaks the words, you can Stop and Start the speech and adjust the volume control. It also has customized features to work with the following applications: MemoPad, TreoMail, VersaMail, SnapperMail, ChatterMail, Messaging and SMS (on the Treo), Docs To Go and the Blazer web browser. The program includes a 7-day trial and costs $14.95 to register. (Currently on sale for $9.95 USD.)

There are a number of Football guides for Palm OS devices and the Treo for the upcoming 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.

TinyStocks has made available a free guide for Palm OS called WCup 2006. You can lookup what games are played on which days and what games are played at each of the 12 stadiums. Check when and who each team is playing and add an alarm in your Datebook to be reminded of the games. With WCup 2006 you can also download the latest scores wirelessly using a Treo or Internet connected handheld and see which teams will make it to the next round. It is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch.

Sprint today announced plans to be the first carrier to offer the Treo 700p by Palm. The Treo 700p will be available at the end of May at Sprint Stores, Sprint business channels and online at sprint.com at $399.99 USD after available discounts and promotions.

The eagerly anticipated next generation Palm OS Treo was announced today by Palm. The Palm Treo 700p builds on the success and innovations from the Treo 650 and 700w and brings a number of new capabilities and features to the Palm OS Garnet Treo smartphone.

Palm has announced a sleek new Treo headset along with the Treo 700p today. Weighing in at a mere .31 ounces (9 grams), the new Palm Ultralight Wireless Bluetooth Headset utilizes an in-ear design with interchangeable ear pieces to ensure a comfortable fit even during periods of extended usage. Utilizing a single multi-function button the user can answer, end, redial, and mute calls.

Like the original Treo Bluetooth headset (now on sale for $59 USD), it utilizes the standard "Athena" multi-connector plug for compatability with Treo 650/700p/700w and most recent Palm PDA chargers. It will be available soon for $129 USD.

Rumor According to a recent report released by Gartner market research group, Palm Inc. has no plans to release any new conventional PDAs or handheld devices for "several months". This would be a deviation from Palm's traditional Spring/Fall new handheld release strategy.
