The latest report from Gartnet states the PDA industry had its strongest first quarter to date. Worldwide personal digital assistant (PDA) shipments totaled 3.4 million units in the first quarter of 2005, a 25 percent increase from the same period last year.

The latest word from Tapwave is that the company is undergoing a transition and is moving away from creating their own branded models. However, the company still plans to develop co-branded products with other leading electronic companies and will continue to develop a next generation multimedia platform.

It now seems apparent that the rumored palmOne Tungsten X/LifeDrive is in fact called the LifeDrive as first reported. Two different sources are now claiming the name is LifeDrive and the device is set to debut sometime this month.

A UK mobile research company has released new data about worldwide smartphone sales figures. The report places Nokia and the Symbian on top in devices shipments with strong growth while palmOne grew only slightly with a shrinking lead over rivals during the period.
