Handspring today released preliminary software development tools to help developers optimize software for the Treo 600. Handspring also reaffirmed that expects to deliver Treo 600 this fall worldwide. The free software developer kit enables Palm OS developers to design both new and existing applications for Treo 600's unique feature set.

The shipping dates for two of this summers most anticipated Palm Powered models have slipped behind, yet again. The GPS enabled Garmin iQue 3600 will now ship by the end of July and the Fossil Palm OS wristwatch release date has now been pushed back to the end of September.

Samsung Electronics today announced fastest mobile CPU to date, with a core speed of 533MHz. The new mobile CPU integrates a number of components and features an ARM core. It is aimed at PDAs and smartphones and will be in production by the fourth quarter.

Sony has officially announced two new handhelds. The PEG-UX50 and UX40. The models have a mini laptop like design with a large swivel screen, digital camera and built in keyboard. The PEG-UX50 has both integrated in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless, while the UX40 only includes Bluetooth. Sony is billing the new device as a "personal entertainment communicator."
