Handspring today announced results for the second quarter of fiscal 2003 ended December 28, 2002. Revenue for the quarter totaled $47.8 million, which included $31.9 million in communicator sales and $15.9 million in sales of organizers and accessories. Revenue for the second quarter was down from $54.1 million in the first quarter and from $70.5 million in the second quarter a year ago.

Flexis, a company known for their flexible waterproof keyboard
reviewed previously, have posted information on a new Bluetooth keyboard, the FXCube Bluetooth. The first of its kind for mobile devices, it is assumed that this keyboard will work with any bluetooth enabled device.

Red Mercury, LLC, has updated AcidImage to version 2.4. Updates include native ARM optimizations and new security features. AcidImage is a image viewer that supports many formats including jpeg files. Palm OS 5 users will notice significant performance increase with the new version.

CES 2003: Compex, a networking and connectivity provider introduced the BTE201 Bluetooth Wireless Access Point as CES 2003. The BTE201 enables up to seven Bluetooth enabled devices to connect concurrently to a network with a range of 10 meters (30 feet).

(Updated 1/14 2:35pm) Grafitti as you know it is about to change. Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) and PalmSource Inc. announced today a licensing agreement for CIC's Jot handwriting recognition software for the next generation of data input for the Palm OS. PalmSource will enhance Jot and rebrand it as Grafitti 2, powered by Jot.

CES 2003: Samsung has formally introduced the SPH-i500 at CES. The SPH-i500 is a fully integrated Palm-Powered clamshell phone. The i500 runs Palm OS 4.1 and sports a 66 MHz Dragonball processor and 16MB of RAM.

CES 2003: SanDisk Corporation today introduced a line of wireless Wi-Fi (802.11b) cards with the world's first card products to include both memory and wireless communications technology. The new SanDisk Connect product line was introduced at a press conference at CES.

CES 2003: Sony Electronics has announced a new larger capacity memory stick format, the Memory Stick Pro. In addition Sony has announced Memory StickŪ media with Memory Select Function? which incorporates multiple 128MB memory units on a single card and works with existing devices.

CES 2003: Palm Solutions Group today said it has expanded the PluggedIn Program to include a comprehensive SDIO component. Program members now have access to the first SDIO hardware development kit (HDK) available on the market, enabling a significantly faster development process. In addition 3 new SDIO cards have been announced: A FM Radio module, Universal IR and a Interactive TV SD card.
