Gx5 Software has released a new utility for the
Centro and Palm OS Treos.
Ringtone Shuffler does exactly what you would think and does it well. The program will let you choose a list of custom or built in ringtones to shuffle each time a call comes in. Gx5 lays out a few usage examples: Imagine a scenario where you have created 3 ringtones from one song; that is the first verse, second verse and the chorus. Now you can select those 3 and enjoy them all. In another scenario, let's say you have about 20 ringtones and 5 of them are from one or a few artists you are really feeling. Now you can just select those 5 as the ones to shuffle.
Ringtone Shuffler v1.01 for Palm OS is available now. It comes with a free trial period and requires 100kb of free space. It costs $7.95 and is currently on sale for $3.95 for a limited time.

An Israeli firm has announced what could very well become the first shipping smartphone running the
Access Linux Platform. Dubbed the Edelweiss, the GSM phone features an impressive list of features most notably a 3.5 inch 480 x 854 pixel touchscreen display.
If there are any ALP holdouts still out there, you're going to have to likely plan a trip to Russia in order to get your hands on one. At this point, the Edelweiss is only rumored to be launching in Russia later this month. The company has created a preview site for the phone, while mainly in Russian, it does list the specs in English and shows the device from all angles.

Just when it looked as if the late summer crop of "free" Verizon Centros from Best Buy was the most attractive way of getting into a new
Palm Centro with no upfront cash outlay, The Boy Genius Report has
a story on a new Palm promotion. Palm is partnering with Verizon Wireless indirect agents to essentially pay customers $25 to sign a 2yr contract for a Centro.
Offered in the form of a $25 mail-in Visa debit card, this offer is valid through October 31st, 2008, having strangely begun on August 1st to no fanfare even on Palm's corporate blog. Additional details as well as the mail-in rebate form can be found here (.pdf link).
