the scoop

devnation is closing down, and, they were hacked. the timing of the discovery of the "hack" is just perfect for a double whammy. the site may have been hacked for a few days before, and maybe no-one noticed. in any event, the webmasters have cleaned up the hack - and, all site redirection gives "sorry, we are no longer providing service" messages. pity. the discussion now is what other alternatives will developers have to devnation?

Sense of Crisis

Well, this just sort of deepen the sense of crisis surrounding Palm, doesn't it?

Perhaps Palm shall have to think about bringing what Developer Nation's been providing back in-house, even though it may mean increasing headcounts in the software division despite the current cash crunch.

Developers are the future of the company and Palm should do everything in its power to safeguard this valuable resource and advantage.

Is it really needed? I've been developing Palm apps for years and never used anything other than the forums.

As a developer myself, I'm really disappointed that DN is shut down. It was highly helpful. Until Palm "re-internalizes" its knowledge bases, I suggest all us developers unite and create a Yahoo group. Beyond that, we have #palmchat and the yahoo groups that are out there now. Maybe eLance too. Just a bit of patience and everything will be back together.
