Comments on: Evidence Found of Proper Cut/Copy/Paste in webOS SDK
If there was some kind of medal for "services to the online Palm community", then Jason Robitaille should be given fifty of them. The prolific homebrew developer of webOS Quick Install and Internalz has made a discovery equivalent to finding an oasis in the desert: placeholder code in the webOS Mojo SDK for improved cut/copy/paste support.
Somewhat embarrassingly for Palm, who touted this feature in the run-up to the Pre's release, you can only X/C/P in editable text fields, a level of functionality beneath even the geriatric (but loved!) Palm OS Garnet. Let's hope Jay's find doesn't turn out to be a mirage.

RE: Why wouldnt there be copy/paste
Let's see how long it takes Palm to fix theirs.
Considering everyone made a big deal about copy & paste on the iphone, you'd like to believe Palm would ensure their implementation was first rate on day 1.
Guess not!
RE: Why wouldnt there be copy/paste
Somewhere deep in the coding cubical of Palm, there is probably a Software QA manager screaming that this feature was supposed to be taken out of the release build.
This may be a premature celebration.
Here's one of the comments in that thread:
You are misinterpreting. This simply allows developers to place text into the clipboard manually. We use this in our app.
