Comments on: Bluetooth Springboard Module Wins Award

Blue-Connect, a Visor Springboard module created by Acer NeWeb and Widcomm, was awarded Best of Computex Taipei 2000 on June 7. It shared the award with its companion product Blue-Dongle, a USB Bluetooth device for PCs. Together, they allow for communications and file transfers between PCs, between Visor PDAs and between a PC and Visor.

Bluetooth is the code name for a technology specification for small form factor, low-cost, short-range radio links between mobile PCs, mobile phones and other portable devices.

I sent an e-mail to Acer asking when and where the product will be available. I'll let you know if I hear anything from them.

What about Palm?

Mike Knox @ 6/12/2000 8:41:43 AM #
Does anyone know when/how Bluetooth will be avalible to palm users? I know that it won't be like the Handspring modules but I thought Palm were making all their devices wireless by the end of the year!

Cheers,

Mike

All Palm devices won't be wireless by the end of the year; there will be a wireless solution for all Palm devices in that time frame.

"We're going to focus on wireless solutions," Mr. Yankowski said, promising wireless Internet connectivity options for all Palm products -- past, current, and future -- by year's end.
