Comments on: Sprint Posts a Palm Pre Teaser Page

Sprint is going to be the exclusive carrier partner for the Palm Pre, a full EVDO Rev. A device with full 802.11b/g and GPS capability and 8GB of integrated storage. While no mention was made during today's presentation about any future carrier partners for the Pre, Palm's full text press release on their web site does make mention of a version of the Pre with a HSDPA/UMTS radio onboard, suggesting that a GSM variant of the device is coming in the future, presumably once Sprint's period of initial exclusivity has lapsed, as we saw last year with Palm's GSM Centro following Sprint's model by a period of four months.

Any info on this?

Why a thumboard?
Yes this looks exciting but, I wonder, if Palm is going for a technically foward device, why incorporate a thumboard instead of incorporating a cutting-edge virtual keyboard?

Download Performance
As far as download performance goes, Sprint won overall, beating AT&T five cities to three, and handily beating Verizon in four cities while losing close contests in four more. To round it out, Verizon beat AT&T in four cities, tied in one, and lost in three.
These results aren't so random when you plot them on the map. Besides proving that Sprint is a serious contender in almost any location—and should be taken seriously as a 3G and 4G data service provider, no matter what your feelings are about its basic phone service—we have confirmed what we thought, that the regional Bell heavies (and the former GTE) hold their own where their real estate holdings are most vast.
AT&T had troubles in the Northeast and Chicago, but down the coast in Raleigh and over in Austin, it's probably no surprise that the southern Bell conglomerate came out victorious. On the West Coast, it was a toss-up except in Portland, where Verizon couldn't quite keep it together.

dude - just go to each site and build comparable plans. i don't know what kind of plan you want in terms of minutes/text etc.
www.att.com (choose iphone first)
the minimum iphone at&t plan is $69/month for 450 voice minutes, unlimited data, and NO texts.
i pay $99/month for unlimited EVERYTHING (voice/data/text/gps/basic sprint tv) with sprint. that same plan on verizon and at&t is $150+/month.
RE: Gekko: AT&T vs Sprint?
p.s. scrap your landline and put that money towards an unlimited cellular plan!
RE: Gekko: AT&T vs Sprint?
Perhaps an option for those who live in an urban area, but cell signals don't reach everywhere. Certainly not Sprint's, who infamous for having the WORSE reception in my entire state of all national carriers.
