Palm Releases Updated Email App for i705

The Palm i705 Email Upgrade includes an updated version of MultiMail Deluxe for the i705. It has numerous new features, including the ability to display the text of Microsoft Word or HTML email attachments.

It also comes with a new version of Palm's PC desktop mail synchronization software and an updated version of Desktop Link 1.2 -- Palm's corporate email forwarding solution.

The latest version of MultiMail Deluxe has support for desktop email synchronization with Lotus Notes and DataViz Docs-to-Go.

Other new features make it easier to remove old messages from the handheld, including the ability to automatically delete all messages in the Trash after they reach a certain age.

Thanks to PDANut for the tip. -Ed

Upgrade MultiMail for EVERYBODY ...

Phil @ 7/30/2002 9:49:34 AM #
... not just for i705 owners. I paid USD 39,-- for MultiMail III and in 2 years never received one upgrade. On my T625c it is quite unusable. I would even pay for an upgrade but since ActualSoft has been aquired by Palm nothing happens anymore. Even the website hasnīt been updated for years. This su... !!! Sorry.

Agreed.

I have the ability to sync my copy of MultiMail Pro with Claris Emailer -- which is great if I lived in 1992.

Sync with Mail.app now!

Seconded. As an aside, anyone know what version this brings Multimail up to? Is this Multimail IV Pro for example? Just curious.

My copy of MMPro worked fine until we upgraded our e-mail server at work...come to find out, MultiMail Pro 3.1 *doesn't* completely support IMAP4, even though the docs swore it did...

100% AGREE WITH PHIL,
There is actually no need to comment, this is just a normal given, these upgrades. All was fine until it was taken over by a company swirling down the drain, thing is they make good handhelds.

I tried installing on my Visor and it didn't install because Desktop isn't >4.1. I really only want to upgrade the app on my handheld. Does anyone know where to find just the application files (and not the whole installation routine)?

What are Mac users supposed to do?

The upgrade is an EXE file....

There is a zip file version as well. StuffIt should be able to decompress it.

Ignore me. Didn't see that the zip file contains an EXE. Doh

Seems to work on non Palm i705 units

I.M. Anonymous @ 7/30/2002 10:54:00 AM #
I installed most of this program (left off the i705 update and one other file) and it seems to work
just fine on my HandEra 330 (of course, it does not support the qvga screen, it is just scaled to fit).
Downloaded email via hotsync and modem. It converted all my current MMPro 3.1 messages over to
the new version, displays Word attachments (downloaded via Modem) MUCH better than their old plugin did. Only downside
hotsync conversion will not convert attachments via InstallBuddy like the older version did, only
Docs to Go. On hotsync, when all attachment conversions turned off, my Word attachment could be
read by the plugin which is ok.

What was the other file? Like the other poster, I paid for MMPro years ago and have had no upgrades since then. It works fine, but it would be nice to have new features, and maybe color support.

Yes, I also installed it in my m505 and it's working perfectly.

I seem to be having 2 problems with getting this to work on my TRGpro:

1) Pulling down the Accounts menu freezes the organizer. Using the command shortcuts (/1, etc.) works fine though.

2) The stupid thing *still* won't sync with my IMAP server. Is there something special needed to get a standard Red Hat 7.2 server to sync with this thing? Netscape and Mozilla have no problems.

I installed in my m515 and I receive files (txt, doc) just okay... the problem is sendin attachments (text, to do): when I check the sent mail on my PC, there are no attachments only "trash"... ?

Hotmail w/OE6

PIC mobile user @ 8/2/2002 8:39:48 AM #
Ok...
So I actually just need help and this is the only venue I have average in my current situation. I sync my hotmail with Outlook Express 6 & sync my m505 to OE. However, hotmail appears as a seperate inbox, outbox, etc outside of the "local folders". Because of this, I have to move any messages I want on the 505 manually to the local inbox folder before i sync. Does anyone know how o fixthis? Ijust want to be able to press hotsync and leave for a bit. If you can help, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks!
