palmOne Treo 650 Available in Venezuela

palmOne today launched the Treo 650 smartphone in Venezuela with Digitel TIM, making it the first all-in-one, quad-band smartphone designed to operate with Digitel's EDGE (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) network.

"The appetite for all-in-one solutions continues to grow, and the Treo 650 will help satisfy our customers' hunger for speedy, mobile access to their most coveted information and applications," said Valeria Cole, regional director, palmOne Latin America. "In today's digital age, Treo smartphones are lifestyle extensions that offer a convenient, stylish way for Latin American customers to stay current and connected -- without carrying multiple devices. We're delighted to make the latest member of the Treo family available on Digitel's EDGE network -- which will deliver the Treo 650's full potential."

"The Treo 650 is part of the products and solutions within our Mobile Office offering. The EDGE platform provides customers an increase of as much as three times the speed when transmitting data compared to traditional platforms. In 2005, we expect to invest in expanding our EDGE coverage across the country," said Federico Rossi, president of Digitel TIM. "Since our company initiated operations, we have been pioneers in bringing the latest in technology to the Venezuelan market, and thanks to the features of the Treo 650, we can continue to stake our claim."

By combining a compact, full-featured mobile phone with email, an organizer, messaging and web access, the Treo 650 lets users organize and simplify their business and personal lives all in one place. The Treo 650 offers integrated Bluetooth technology, a higher-resolution screen, multimedia capabilities, a removable battery, non-volatile memory, an improved QWERTY backlit keyboard, and support for direct corporate email access to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 using VersaMail email software.
