NS Basic/Palm Version 5.0 Released

NS BASIC Corporation announced today the immediate availability of NS Basic/Palm 5.0. Major new features include an integrated debugger, code completion and new shared libraries, including support for Palm's new LifeDrive.

NS Basic 5.0 for Palm OS"The enhancements in NS Basic/Palm 5 will make it easier for developers to code and test their applications", said George Henne, President of NS BASIC Corporation. "The new LifeDrive library allows developers to easily add multimedia features to their applications for these devices."

The new version is available immediately for $149.95 USD for single developers. An Enterprise Edition, allowing unlimited developers at a single location is priced at $449.95. There are no runtime charges for applications created using NS Basic/Palm. Combo packs with NS Basic/CE, allowing development for Pocket PC devices, are also available.

Upgrades for existing users start at $49.95. Registered users who bought after June 1, 2005 will get the upgrade for free. Existing NS Basic programs are upwardly compatible with the new version.

Some of what has been added in 5.0:

  • New Runtime Debugger.
  • Code Hints - see args to functions as you type.
  • Code Completion - see members of objects as you type.
  • Auto Indent - code automatically indents as you type.
  • Code drag and drop supported in Code Window.
  • Automatic brace matching - keep your parenthesis matched!
  • Horizontal line dividers between subs and funcs.
  • Left, top, width, height of objects can be changed at runtime.
  • New Slider control.
  • New Shared Library: DBLib for databases.
  • New Shared Library: DevInfoLib for device info.
  • New Shared Library: DocLib.
  • New Shared Library: DocReaderLib for DOC reading.
  • New Shared Library: NSBLifeDrive for multimedia.
  • Shared libs, SysTrap functions now support arrays (and nulls!)
  • New Grid.FontMatrix(row,col) function.
  • F1 brings up the Language Reference help file.
  • There are also documentation updates, new samples and bug fixes.
