Rumor: It's looking more likely that we could see a Verizon Centro soon.
Engadget Mobile is citing insider information on a Verizon Centro release date and the folks at
TreoCentral have also recently dug up some scraps of supporting evidence as well.
Engadget Mobile cites an unnamed source that claims the Centro will debut on Verizon sometime in the end of May or beginning of June.

Tech Trader Daily points out two especially pessimistic and negative research notes on Palm today. Needham's Charlie Wolf, who has covered the company for a long time, remarks that Palm has "lost its way." He goes on to say "it's an open question whether they'll be successful" in reference to the new operating system.
Nomura's Andrew Beswick is even gloomier, writing today that "all the signs are there that Palm may not be long for this world." He says Palm does not offer enough devices or distinguishable variants, and asserts that the features of its phones are not upgraded fast enough.

PhoneSwitch is a simple utility that allows you to program custom actions on your Palm OS based smartphone when it is hung up. You can have it redirect to either a preset application or have it switch to the last program you were using. PhoneSwitch Deluxe also offers advanced options such as: an exclude list that allows you to exclude a program from being switched to after a call, an option to only launch the specified app if the call is incoming, and the option of resetting the set app to a preset one after a set amount of time. New features in this update include the ability to bypass an action if a call is ignored, an option to lookup contact for "bypass if caller unknown" and a new third party developer api.
PhoneSwitch Deluxe v1.3 for Palm OS is available now for $8.00. It comes with a free trial period.

Palm Centro smartphone is now available to
StarHub mobile customers in Singapore.

Palm today released its Form
10-Q Quarterly report documents. The filling reveals that Palm lost $57 million dollars in the previous quarter, up from the $31.5 million which was
previously reported.
Palm took an additional $25 million write-down charge for its auction-rate securities that have since lost value with the current problems in the debt and credit market. The Wall Street Journal recently published a report on the current problems with auction-rate securities and the tech industry which mentioned Palm.

Palm announced the availability of the
Centro in Mexico earlier this week. One small detail that may have been overlooked in the press release was that Palm would be offering a new blue version of the Centro to customers in Mexico via Movistar and Telcel.
After much searching our amigo's at Palm were able to send us a high resolution shot of the Mexican Palm Centro in Blue. Unfortunately, Palm is only offering the blue Centro south of the border at this time and isn't commenting on its possible future availability elsewhere. Read on for a full sized pic...

Opera Software has released a new beta version of its
Opera Mini web browser. This release includes several new features, including automatic completion of web addresses, tools for attaching files to web-based email; support for file and photo uploads; downloading attachments from email for storage on your phone; and saving and viewing pages offline. Users can download the v4.1 beta by visiting
mini.opera.com/beta via your phone's browser.
In order to use Opera Mini on Palm OS you need to have the Palm Java Micro Environment installed. Since Palm no longer distributes the JVM you need to already have it installed or find an alternate source (download link) for it online.
