Free Edition of Call Block Released

Call Block FreeWish Solutions has released a new free edition of its Call Block software for Palm OS smartphones. Call Block Free Edition is a simple yet effective tool to block and filter unsolicited and unwanted incoming calls and sms messages. The software uses a background blocking method to not interrupt you when blocked calls come in. The free version lets you block up to five callers.

Call Block Free Edition v2.0 is available now for Palm OS. Call Block MP3 Ringtone Edition for Palm OS offers more advanced blocking and reporting features in addition to mp3 ringtones. You can read our review of it here. It is also available for Windows Mobile.

Centro Launched in Colombia

Centro ColumbiaPalm has just introduced the Centro smartphone in Colombia through Comcel and Movistar. The Centro is being made available in the Red and Blue colors, which recently debuted in Mexico.

The Centro is a quad-band GSM/EDGE smartphone running Palm OS Garnet v5.4.9. It has a 320x320 pixel touchscreen display, Bluetooth v1.2, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with video capture and 64MB of memory. For memory expansion it has a microSD slot. You can find our Centro review here.

Astraware Releases Platypus

Platypus - Palm GameAstraware and Idigicon have released Platypus - the "squishiest shoot-em-up ever" - for Palm OS and Windows Mobile smartphones and PDAs. Based on the cult classic for PC and Mac, Platypus is a fast, frantic and fun side-scrolling arcade shooter with a difference - the entire game is made from modeling clay. Platypus features 4 massive worlds each with several challenging levels. In addition to the unique graphics and animations, the game features a music soundtrack inspired by classic Commodore 64 games.

CorePlayer Mobile for Palm OS Updated

CorePlayer - Palm OSCoreCodec has released a new update to its massively popular CorePlayer Mobile multimedia software for Palm OS. CorePlayer v1.2.3 brings a large number of new features and all around improvements. The main new features include YouTube video support and a native YouTube browser, the addition of a number of new streaming audio and video formats, Google GData support, multi-language support, optimized AVC playback and AVCHD support.

CorePlayer Mobile for Palm OS v1.2.3 is available now for $29.95. It is currently reduced to $24.95 for a limited time. You can read our review of an earlier version here. It is also available for Windows Mobile Professional and Smartphone.

Deluxeware Releases New Golden Skull Game

Golden SkullDeluxeware has released a new game for Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices. Golden Skull is a self described puzzle adventure game that will take you on an unforgettable journey through the undiscovered Mayas pyramids and long forgotten ruins. In addition to the usual puzzle game fun, this title features am entertaining story mode. The game includes full screen support in both 480x320 and 320x480 modes for Palm OS devices and 240x240 square screen support on Windows Mobile Treos.

Golden Skull - Saeed's Adventures v1.00 is available now for Palm OS and Windows Mobile. It sells for $19.95 and is currently on sale for $12.95 for a limited time.

FileFind v3.0 Released

FileFind - Palm OSTamoggemon Software's FileFind 3.0 has been released. FileFind makes it possible to search the contents of your memory card and gives you a number of more advanced options to track down what you are looking for. Even with the advent of memory card support in Palm OS 4, the built in search to this day does not look in external memory cards. FileFind overcomes that limitation and can search files on storage cards/internal file stores using their creation, modification, attributes and/or last access dates.

FileFind v3.0 for Palm OS is available now for $9.95. It is currently on sale for $7.95 for a limited time. The application comes with a fully functional 14-day trial.

USB Modem for Palm OS Updated

USB ModemMobile Stream's USB Modem software has been updated. The application allows the Treo or Centro to operate as a USB modem for your desktop or laptop computer. The program offers support for Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems. Recent updates include support for the GSM Palm Centro, compatibility with Windows Vista 64-bit and a fix to the built in DUN suppression on the Treo 680 & 755p.

USB Modem v1.60 for Palm OS is available now with a free trial period. There is also a version for Windows Mobile. It costs $24.95.

Centro Launch Party in Mexico City

Blue Centro ModelsPoderPDA was on-hand at the Palm Centro launch party held recently in Mexico. The site has published an interesting report from the event in english with a good assortment of pictures from the festivities.

The party was held at a well known lounge bar in Mexico City. Palm's CEO Ed Colligan was present along with a number of executives from Palm Mexico and Latin America, some models demonstrating the Centro and Mexican recording artist Ximena Sariņana. Of course the Blue Centro made an appearance as well.

Update: The Sprint Treo 755p Has Not Been Discontinued

Sprint LogoThe Sprint Treo 755p has not been discontinued and will continue to be offered by Sprint. A Sprint representative has confirmed to PalmInfocenter that the carrier has not discontinued the Treo 755p from its smartphone portfolio and says the 755p remains a "strong product offering" in Sprint's lineup.

The device is currently missing from Sprint's website, which along with a number of forum reports lead to rumors that the product had been discontinued. Sprint says they are addressing a temporary outage of inventory, which is why the Treo 755p is not being displayed online at this time. Sprint's rep also went on to state that they plan to continue offering Palm handsets and investing in new Palm products throughout 2008.

Has the Sprint Treo 755p Been EOL'd?

Treo 755p SprintUnconfirmed reports are circulating that Sprint will no longer be offering the Treo 755p smartphone. Recent forum posts indicate that Sprint reps are now informing customers that the Treo 755p has been end of life'd. The device is also no longer showing up on Sprint's website. PalmInfocenter has a question in to both Sprint and Palm, but has not heard back from either as of this morning.

A number of Sprint business customers have reported in the TreoCentral forums that their account managers are telling people that the 755p is no longer available and customers should opt for the Centro. However there is also unconfirmed conflicting information that only the Red and Blue colors have been discontinued on Sprint, to be replaced by a new 755p refresh in silver.
