Palm Regains Lead and Shipments Up in W. Europe

The latest report out of Dataquest, a division of Gartner, said that PDA shipments in Western Europe are up 15% compared with the same quarter last year. Shipments of all PDAs to the area totalled 496,000 units in the third quarter. This follows four quarters of successive year-on-year declines.

Iambic Releases Agendus For Windows

Iambic announced it has released two versions of iambic Agendus for Windows; iambic Agendus for Windows Standard Edition and iambic Agendus for Windows Professional Edition. The program is 100 percent compatible with both Palm Desktop and Outlook data. It reads and writes both formats, allowing the user to have immediate access to all information available on Palm Desktop or Outlook. Agendus for Windows synchronizes with Agendus for Palm.

DataViz Acquires and Rebrands ThinkDB Products

DataViz announced today its purchase of ThinkDB, a relational database program, as well as other product assets from thinkingBytes Technology. Simultaneously, today DataViz is releasing ThinkDB under its own brand, SmartList To Go. The financial terms of the agreement are not being disclosed, as both companies are privately held.

Rumor: Clie NX Series Can Use CF Memory?

ClieTokyo, a new website covering the Clie scene in Tokyo in English, is reporting that the new expansion slot in the NX series will support third party memory storage cards with clie specific drivers.

AlphaSmart Dana Palm OS Laptop Available Now

AlphaSmart has unveiled Dana, a portable device larger than a handheld and less expensive than a laptop, intended for students. Powered by Palm OS 4.1, Dana includes a full-size, integrated keyboard and a 560 by 160 pixel touch screen that is roughly 7.5 by 2.25 inches. It has 8 MB of memory and two SD/MMC slots. It costs $399 and is available now from the Palm Store.

PalmSource and Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Deal

PalmSource, Inc., and Sony Ericsson, today announced their plans surrounding optimization of the Bluetooth interoperability between Sony Ericsson mobile phones and Palm Powered(TM) mobile devices.

The companies released the news at the Cellular Telecommunications Internet Association (CTIA) in Las Vegas. Sony Ericsson is a leading provider of mobile phones enabled with Bluetooth, a short-range wireless connectivity technology invented by Ericsson.

RifleSLUGsParagon Software has released RifleSLUGs, a new step-by-step strategy game for Palm OS handhelds. The object of the game is to kill all enemy slugs. Rumor: Hands on Pictures of the Palm Tungsten T

The Russian handheld website, handy.ru, has obtained and published hands on pictures of the upcoming Palm Tungsten T. The pictures show the screen of the Tungsten T at various angles and a side by side comparison with a HP Journada 568. One noticeable change is, new default icons in the launcher screen.

Kyocera Extends Palm OS License Through 2005

Kyocera Wireless Corp. today announced a three-year extension to its licensing agreement with PalmSource Inc. Under terms of the agreement, Kyocera will continue expanding its line of smartphone devices utilizing the industry-leading Palm OS® platform.
