Comments on: Free, Ad Supported Version of mOcean Released

mOceanMotion Apps' popular mOcean mp3 player for Palm OS devices has quietly become a "free" ad-supported app. Since the release of the latest version last month, the app has now added a small banner containing advertisements across the top of the main screen.

In addition to MP3s, this versatile media app plays back still photos, videos, audiobooks and streaming radio, all while mimicking the general look and feel of Apple's iconic iPod interface. mOcean also features full iTunes synchronization capabilities. It is worth noting that mOcean is only compatible with Palm OS smartphones such as the Treo and Centro, so Palm PDA diehards need to look towards PocketTunes or elsewhere for their media-playback fix.

Of course, users are still able to purchase the app at full price to remove the banner advertisements at the usual price of $29.99. You can check out Tim's review of mOcean v3.0.

I take it that they can't compete with PTunes.

Tried this out on my TE a few weeks ago... :-(

*WHY* can't they make it run on a OS 5.2 PDA??

That treo only thing is SO stupid.

i've also tried the ad version. it seems that it wants to connect to the internet to download the ads and it wont run without it. Waste my time. PTunes is free with my Treo ;)

That's just it. They can, but they won't. That's why Motion Apps is on the top of my list of developers to avoid from now on.

PDA's Past and Present:
Palm TX (Number 2)
Palm - IIIxe, Vx, M500, M505, Tungsten T, TX
Handspring - Edge, Platinum, Deluxe
Sony - SJ22, UX50
Apple - MP110, MP2000, MP2100

Well I tried it, I really wanted to like it. But for me the skipping pretty much kills it. Every other program I switch to makes it skip like mad. The Ipod interface didn't impress me, but it didn't really bother me either. Maybe they'll get it right in the next version.
