Why doesn't palm offer a download that can play the video natively (without an added program) on a Treo or T(x)? Yeah sure there is TCMP, and Kinoma but asf format is useable natively on the T(x).

Yes some people will respond that Palm doesn't want to charge more for user rights to view MOV format....

Why no .wmv on the Pre? It is about time for Palm to get native about this format after all these years. What's up with that?

Ugh! Please, no. Why would Palm want to pay a license fee to Microsoft for that DRM encrusted format? The less companies that support locked in formats the better.

"maybe i'll get my bloomberg radio stream finally?"

Bloomberg uses a very old, long-ago-deprecated codec called "WMA Voice" that isn't included in the SDKs that developers (like Kinoma or Palm) use to support Windows Media on non-Windows devices.

We've complained to them about using such an ancient format, but we need listeners like you to complain to them as well.

The good news is that you can listen to Bloomberg Radio on your Palm OS device today: http://blog.kinoma.com/2007/12/listen-to-bloomberg-radio-with-kinoma-player/

You don't need Orb to listen to Bloomberg Radio with Kinoma Play: http://blog.kinoma.com/2008/09/new-financial-and-market-news-from-bloomberg/

thanks Charles. yes, at your urging, i've complained to Bloomberg many times over the years about the legacy wm voice codec - all for naught. i dont like the orb workaround since i use a laptop and dont have a PC running 24/7.

is kinoma providing a kinoma player for Pre?

this is no help because i have a centro. if i had a WinMob device, i could just use WM player.

"...at your urging, i've complained to Bloomberg many times over the years about the legacy wm voice codec..."

Thanks. Hopefully Bloomberg "gets" mobile someday.

"i dont like the orb workaround since i use a laptop and dont have a PC running 24/7."

I understand, but it's worth noting since it's the only solution that will ever work for Palm OS devices.

"this is no help because i have a centro."

Many Palm Infocenter readers are using Windows Mobile devices or considering upgrading to one, so I didn't want to cause any confusion for them. Kinoma Play's Kinoma Guide includes both Bloomberg TV and Bloomberg Radio right now.

For those inclined to download the clip, it's around ~360 MB
