Zip and Unzip Files with HandZipper

HandZipper is a new application from HandWatch that can compress and decompress WinZip files directly on memory cards. Once the Zip files are saved to the card, HandZipper can unzip and install applications and files directly from the card to the handheld. Because many downloads come with a read-me file in text format, it also has a simple text viewer that can view text files within the Zip file without having to open it first. It is available now for $10.

By using its compression algorithm, HandZipper can use less memory card storage space to back up Palm files. An 8 MB memory card can easily store over 12 MB of files.

Unlike the usual archiving utility, HandZipper stores all files in just one Zip file. This simplifies the archiving process and makes it easy for users to find the wanted backup file.

The Zip files created by HandZipper can be opened by WinZip or another compatible compression utilities on any computer.

As usual, www.google.com could have saved us all from another useless post.

HandWatch hadn't added the app to their site yet when I posted the article yesterday. That's changed so I've just edited the article to link to their page on the app.

As a side issue, I tried to link directly to the Handango page on it, which, judging from this first post, doesn't seem to have worked very well. Anyone know how to link directly to a product on Handango?
