palmOne today announced an agreement with PalmSource, Inc. for palmOne to acquire full rights to the brand name Palm. The brand had been co-owned by the two companies since the October 2003 spin-off of PalmSource from Palm, Inc.

The new program offers a very fast and accurate solution for those who use a PDA for text-entry: composing emails, taking notes or preparing documents. PalmSource today announced that David Nagel stepped down as president, chief executive officer and director of PalmSource, effective May 22, 2005, and Patrick McVeigh, currently senior vice president, worldwide licensing for PalmSource, has been named interim CEO. The board of directors has initiated a search for a permanent successor. Nagel will remain at PalmSource in an advisory role through mid-July 2005.
