iBIZ has begun shipping first Secure Digital Expansion Card (SD), FM radio for the Palm OS. The Pocket Radio enables a standard PDA with an SD expansion slot to tune into FM radio stations.

SanDisk Corporation has introduced the SanDisk Ultra II line of CompactFlash and SD flash memory cards. Each card features a minimum write speed of 9 megabytes per second (MB/sec.) and a minimum read speed of 10MB/sec., making them some of the fastest performing flash memory cards in the world, the cards will be available in November.

In March of 2001, computer system maker NCR Corp. sued Palm Inc. and Handspring on the grounds that their handheld computers infringed on two NCR-owned patents. Last summer a Judge ruled neither company infringed and yesterday, the ruling was upheld and the case dismissed.

Snapperfish has released version 1.8 of its POP3 email client, SnapperMail. AcidImage Pro is an image viewing applicaion, and is now the first application to render TIFF images natively. The combination is the first solution to view faxes sent wirelessly.

Amid all the recent hype caused by the latest windows virus problems, Symantec has announced the Symantec AntiVirus for Handhelds line of consumer and enterprise solutions. The new products aim to protect Palm OS- and devices against viruses, worms and other malicious code, even though there are less than 2 known palm os viruses and they are extremely rare.

SanDisk has removed the release date for Palm OS 4 drivers for it's still unreleased WiFi SD card. The company no longer plans to make the accessory compatible with such devices. A version compatible with Palm OS 5 devices is expected in the fall.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has reversed the judgment of non-infringement that had been previously entered in the E-Pass v. Palm and 3Com patent litigation. The suit claims that Palm Inc, and subsequently other handheld manufacturers infringe on a E-pass patent.
