Palm SG Enters China's Handheld Market

Palm today announced it has begun to sell Palm branded handhelds in China. Palm also announced the the opening of its sales and marketing support office in China, a local distributor, the establishment of customer services and in-country technical support.

Palm Debuts the Zire 71 and Tungsten C Handhelds

Palm Solutions Group today debuted two new handhelds, the Zire 71 and Tungsten C. The Zire 71 is a new consumer model with an emphasis on multimedia, featuring a built in digital camera. The Tungsten C is aimed a Corporate Campuses and power users, with built in WiFi wireless, a 400mhz Intel XScale Processor and 64 MB of RAM.

Beyond Contacts Offers Full Outlook Support

DataViz today announced new software Beyond Contacts(TM). Beyond Contacts is a Microsoft Outlook companion that syncronizes Outlook data for Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes on your handheld.

Clie CF Memory Card Drivers Released

EruWare has released a Compact Flash Storage Card Driver for the Sony Clie. This driver enables Clie models PEG-NX60, PEG-NX70V, and PEG-NZ90 to use the CompactFlash slot with standard CF memory.

Palm Expands Internal RAM Capabilities

Palm Solutions Group has announced it has overcome the 16MB internal memory limit. Palm Solutions and PalmSource engineers collaborated to develop memory technology that extends the amount of RAM possible on a Palm OS handheld from the current 16MB to 128MB.

HandEra Ends Palm OS Product Line

HandEra has announced it will no longer release Palm OS based handheld products. In addition the company issued and End of Life notice for both of it's handhelds the TRGpro and HandEra 330.

Garmin iQue 3600 Available for Pre-Order

Online retailer Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders for the highly anticipated, GPS enabled Garmin iQue 3600. The first units are expected to begin shipping on July 1st.

Handspring Reports 3Q Results, New Smartphone in Fall

Handspring has reported the results of its third quarter of fiscal 2003, and announced it is developing a "a significant new product due this fall." Handpspring also announced a agreement with European communications company Orange, to develop future smartphones designed for the Orange network in Europe.

SEGA Releases 5 Classic Games for OS 5SEGA's Mobile division has released 5 classic Sega games for Palm OS 5. The classic titles includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Columns, Shinobi and more. The games require Palm OS 5 and there are demo versions of each.

Palm Releases Improved VersaMail

Palm has released VersalMail 2.5. The new version includes a number of improvements and new features including automatic message retrieval, a 2-line message interface, new fonts and an improved syncing conduit.

MediaQ to Develop New ARM Processor

ARM Holdings and MediaQ today announced that MediaQ has licensed the ARM922TTM embedded processor core for use in the soon-to-be announced processor for multimedia centric portable devices. MediaQ will implement the ARM922T core in a low-power system-on-chip design that boosts multimedia application performance for handhelds.
