I ordered one...

dmunz @ 8/25/2001 11:14:58 AM #
Ok, I ordered one this morning. $18.90 with no extra for shipping seems a little cheap but will just have to wait and see. They didn't give a shipping date but will e-mail me when it goes out.

BTW, I'm not sure where these will be coming from. It looks like the company is in Asia but the add an extra shipping charge for non-US orders. Maybe they have the calbes warehoused somewhere in the US.

FWIW

replying to myself...

I forgot to add that that it looks like the unit recharges from the USB socket's power. I don't know anything about the hardware; can anyone confirm that there is enough power going through a USB line to charge a m505?

TIA

There should be plenty of power. I just purchased a Canon scanner and it has a USB connection and that connection also supplies power for the scanner - no other cords or cables.

Brando makes a combination USB sync cable with charger for the Sony Clie and while it has enough power to charge the unit, it does so much slower than the stock power supply. If you can live with overnight time frame, then by all means. May be faster if you use it in combination with an externally powered USB hub.

I ordered one too - got tired of waiting on the Palm charger. Am I correct in assuming that I'll have to leave my laptop on to get charging current across the USB?

It's A Shame

It's a shame that Palm can't be first with their peripherals, third party vendors beat them to the punch

I know. I've had a Palm travel kit for the m500 ordered since March and it still hasn't shipped yet.
