A little off the subject

The new 760 is at best a modest improvement over the last Sony. Does anybody know if it would be possible (and if not, why) to run Palm OS on a Pocket PC? Not something goofy like POSE with a picture of the palm on the screen, but completely, like a 760? If possible, we could have a whopping increase in memory and CPU performance. Some software developer could make a load of cash, and alot of us PDA geeks would be happy. Why hasen't somebody addressed this. I'm looking forward to hearing some good replies. (please no flames or Palm-vsPocket PC wars)

Emulating the Sony's weird resolution would be difficult since most PocketPC screens would not be wide enough pixel-wise. You could emulate HandEra 330, probably in color, and having the virtual graffiti area should simplify that. I'm not sure why you say POSE is goofy, because that's essentially what any solution would be. It'd be silly to write a new emulator since the source is available. The main problem is that the PocketPC's CPUs are too slow to emulate the Palm's processor at a reasonable speed. Faster Palms will be coming soon enough, and I can't imagine Palm and Handspring can afford to avoid the PocketPC feature set too much longer. A color HandEra or HandEra-like device is probably less than a year away anyhow.

I know a full emulator would be a big help to a few of my friends. We run into situations where it would be nice if they could receive files from Palms directly. I think that this would serve a better purpose than just an option to increase memory,.. my wife's has 24Mb and mine is at 72Mb, but neither one is close to full.
