Oh no!!!!

Foo Fighter @ 2/13/2002 8:33:09 AM #
I just got a Silver T615c. If I knew for sure Sony was bringing this red beast to the US, I would have delayed my purchase.

Buyers remorse sucks!

Go with the Best Buy performance service plan next time you buy a PDA and you can upgrade anytime for several years for no cost (as long as price of upgrade is same or less than original purchase -- "no cost" of course excludes the actual cost in time and mental health associated with making the trip to Best Buy and fighting the masses for a parking space etc.).

If you'd done performance service with your new T615, the scenario would have unfolded something like this: you wake up one morning and realize your T615's graffiti recognition is subpar and battery charge is screwy. Return it to Best Buy when the Red 615 is in stock and you're in business.

There is no word that Red will actually come to the US. In fact, Royal Blue might only be available at SonyStyle stores, not anywhere else.

Dell is taking orders for the blue one and I ordered one from them so they better be getting it! I asked Vaja if they were going to make a T series case and they said they weren't sure yet. E&B cases are definetly subpar compared to Vaja cases although they are cheaper. I don't think Vaja is doing so well right now since they have had a lot of 20% off sales lately. They probably don't want to introduce new cases on top of that.

I meant retail stores. Only SonyStyle is definite about carrying it. I think Ryan hear posted that Best Buy and Ciruit City said they would not have Blue.

It is interesting that Palm released Red and Blue m505s a few months ago and people weren't that excited -- except that Palm gave them patriotic monikers and people hit the roof.

I'd like to see a Black and a White T615.

Uh, the Best Buy here (Pittsburgh) *has* Royal Blue T-615's. I assumed they were all over or I would have mentioned it a few days ago.

Foo Fighter NEEDS a red one to match his avatar. Otherwise we would have to make him install Sony's Japanes Web Browser program and change his name to the Silver Surfer!

Wow... it looks like the Edge!

i have never looked at a picture of the 600 series before... It looks a lot like the Visor Edge!

That's what I was going to say...lol...the red edge does not look nice anyway...

Neither the red nor the blue Edge look right. How did they botch those colors so badly?! It will be gone soon. I expect they are trying to figure out how to use the parts in a Treo model right now.

"but it's much thicker"

Lets see a comparison with the thickness:

Edge .44 of an inch

T615C .5 of an inch

So, if I do my math correctly, the T615C is 6 one hundredths of an inch thicker than the Edge?

That is hardly "much thicker", dont you think?

come on, don't compare the T615 with that toy..

And a free key holder!

I.M. Anonymous @ 2/13/2002 11:20:22 AM #
According to the Sony web page, if you buy a "Celebration Red" Clie between March 2 and September 30, you get a free CLIE key holder! It's a free present from Sony to you. They don't specify on the web page, but I would guess that this is only available in Japan. :(

In lieu of good tech support ... have a key fob. This is BS.

in lieu of good support...?

I live in Australia.
I have just received my 3rd Sony T615c unit, replaced on each occaision for a screen discoloration...a problem for which support staff can't be responsible. It was done fast, it was done without complaint or issue and it was done gracefully. I had previously owned a Vx and m505. The m505 was replaced once. The replacement took 6 weeks to come from Singapore and my calls never got returned when enquiring why it was taking so long...

I think, like the tedious "..but I don't like proprietory memory..." argument, this stupid, ill-informed and rather wet sounding complaint about Sony and its (excellent) support - can probably be put to rest. The company is a juggernaut. It makes everything under the sun across the globe. Yest on multiple occaisions I have had to call support for stereos, TVs and so on - and they are always courteous and fast...if a little costly - but I am willing to pay for speed and getting it right.
My 2c worth (only worth 1cUS but hey...)

This is an excellent dictionary program, for those of you who haven't tried it. It's fast, comprehensive, entries can be added...I hope in this new version you can edit entries, too.

I have an m505 and a rhinoskin hardcase. for now the only thing thats keeping me from buying a sony is the lack of a decent hardcase. can anyone give a review on this product?

RE: DSI Case for T Series

DSI Case - N series review:

Great for protecting the unit from drops.

The fact that the cover is Aluminum and the back is plastic, there is noticable wear and tear on the edges of the plastic where the cover touches it.

The paint on the plastic stinks. I used the case for a week and the paint around the stylus opening is already wearing off. This goes for the little bumps on the plastic side as well.

The jog dial is hard, but not impossible, to turn. You pretty much have to use the edge of your thumb to turn dial because the top of the case protrudes out enough to inhibit normal functionality.

I would say wait and see what the T series looks like. Do NOT pre-order the case. Wait to see a review of one before you buy.

Palm Infocenter following Sony's lead?
