I have found this to be an excellent program for my OS 4.1 m515.

I have had the very very occasional program have a conflict but for the most part this thing works great! Nice to see an OS5 version now available too.

Not that there's anything wrong with SprayPaint, but Chris Antos' freeware "Colorize" has been out for a couple days now, and includes many of the same features and stability of SprayPaint... for free.

Oh, man... am I a convert to Colorize!

It has much better color sets than SprayPaint and uses half the RAM. And, free sounds good to me, too.

Dont' forget about Colors 1.1 from Masao MAEDA. It's a Control Panel add-in that allows you to select each configurable display aspect by tapping the desired color and then seeing what it will look like in the Test Dialog and Test Alerts menus. Best of all, it's free:

It's a nice addition to Colorize.

3D Master Thief--initial opinions

hkklife @ 1/3/2003 3:01:53 PM #
Master Thief is PHENOMENAL!! I knew Ardiri and the guys were going to produce a winner but I didn't anticipate THIS level of smoothness! Using the closest possible material for comparison (Mh GameBoy Advance with Doom and Ecks vs. Sever) this not-totally-tweaked Palm game blows them all away in terms of smoothness. Only in the audio department and D-pad layout does the GBA have the upper hand. Keep up the good work guys! This is the first *true* showcase title (game, app, or otherwise) I've seen for the T|T and OS5...Rayman is a nice game but it doesn't run much better with an ARM OS5 unit than it did on my lowly m505.

dont worry, we are working on the audio department of things :) we just wanted a native OS5 version available to sweeten those taste buds :)

Is the Ultra-Mode also close to release?

Aaron:

No rush, I could really care less about the audio side of things. Bring on the Ultra mode--that's what I really wanna see! Also, any idea on the eta of the rest of the mission packs?

Finally, any teasers for us as to what's on the horizon post-Master Thief? Any chance of a licensed Palm OS port of a first-person "classic" PC title? ;-)

Ultra mode is not a real mode (at least not yet *g*). You are in "ultra mode" when you select super quality mode and run it in 320x320 resolution (exclusively available for ARM/OS5 - the default and only resolution).

As for "licensed Palm OS port of a first-person 'classic' PC titles", who knows ;-) But I would recommend that anyone that is interested in seeing such titles, should write to that company asking them for a version Palm.

> Bring on the Ultra mode

the OS5 version has it :) only for ARM units, nice native true 320x320 high resolution screen renderering *sweet* - it makes such a difference.

> Also, any idea on the eta of the rest of the mission packs?

they are being worked on - there are two available right now - Silicon Heaven (was Cytec Industries - but, we were asked to rename it [some company is actually called Cytec Industries and got a stiff about it]) and Liquid Gold.

i would like to add that the level packs go far beyond the demo version - they take a long time to complete. i suck at the game, so, i dont get far :) it would be nice to know how good people are at MT3D *g*

> Any chance of a licensed Palm OS port of a first-person "classic" PC title? ;-)

MT3D is one of the first licenses for our Deity3D engine - so, we will bring on more *g*. as for which games? well, we are open to talking to the original owners of "classic" PC titles to bring the classic to the platform. we experimented a while back, and, posted what Doom would look like in our engine :)

http://www.mobilewizardry.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=117

anything is possible :) i personally believe that MT3D is too difficult *g* - i would love to bring a game where you can see blood.. and, lots of it *g* go crazy with that shotgun...

Remember Rise of the Triad on PC? From back in the '94/'95 or so era...it was a nice stepping stone between the Doom series and Duke Nukem 3D. I have always maintained it'd be a fine Palm OS port--too bad Serious Sam's already been done (poorly, I might add)!

Has anyone encounter problem with their Tungsten TT power on/off button after installing the game to the SD card. It seems to happened to me. While playing the game, I was not able to turn of the game from either the on/off button and the only way to exit the entire thing was to hit the home icon next to the grafitti writing area. After I uninstall the game, my power on/off button seems to be back to normal where as before, even without the game being played, my on/off button would act funny and not behaving properly for its function. I had to hit the on/off button as much as 10 times to turn the unit on or off.

hkklife @ 1/8/2003 12:22:59 PM #
Yup, I had similar issues--however, this isn't the first app i've encountered that got fussy with not wanting to let you exit the program any other day than by hitting the home icon on the Graffiti area. I have to admit, I've gotten very used to holding down the center d-pad button to exit a program, so I really noticed this bug the first time I played 3DMT.

Still, I'd rather have a great FPS game like this one w/ a few small bugs than another bug-free pastel-colored Palm OS puzzle/card game! ;-)

> I've gotten very used to holding down the center d-pad button to exit a program

we disabled this :) what if you want to really blast that dogs gutz all over the walls? .. just imagine it.. "take this you bag of fur... oops.. launcher."

as for the power button issue - i dont experience that myself on a standard T|T (std launcher etc with no system extensions yada yada).. so, if you send us a list of the apps you have, i'm sure we'll find the culprit for you :)
