tethering smackdown?

Gekko @ 10/8/2008 11:30:04 AM # Q

don't carriers give you the smackdown these days for unauthorized tethering?

My understanding is they can't tell if you're using this software and you keep it reasonable. I'd stay away from the hulu...

It (mostly) depends on how much you, how often you do it, and if they deem your usage "excessive".

Personally, I've never done more than a couple hundred MB in a month, usually just 10mb or 20mb or so in a session for an emergency file/driver download or to send a few emails or check the news.

I think if the carriers would lighten up on their DUN pricing as well as go a little easier and/or clearly state their TOS, they'd find a lot more people no longer "scared" to utilize tethering and/or data cards.

Setting up with Mac OS X - challenge yet to conquer

CompeauFawkes @ 10/9/2008 6:53:55 AM # Q
I've found setting this up with Windows XP to be very straightforward; however, attacking setup with Mac OS X is far less so, particularly when the folder they assume to be in your Library simply doesn't exist. With slow response to tech support queries, I'm kinda hanging in the breeze here on using it with my MacBook Air.

Setup, again, with Windows XP for Sprint was elegant and quick.
