The first 3rd party battery solution for the new Treo 755p has just hit the market. Boxwave's ElectraSpan Extended Battery is specifically designed to accomodate the battery well on the
Treo 755p that is deeper than on its Treo
680 and
750 stablemates.
This high capacity rechargeable Li-Ion battery has a 2400mAh capacity, offering an 800mAh boost over the stock 755p battery. Boxwave's web site is advertising this as a 200% power boost over the stock 755p battery but this is not at all correct. Still, since CDMA phones sip energy more greedily than their GSM counterparts, this battery will come as welcome news to current and prospective 755p owners alike.

It may not be a new program, but with its latest release
Softick Audio Gateway can finally be called "complete". In version 1.12 of the popular Palm OS A2DP app, Softick have added support for the brand spankin' new Treo 755p and finally enabled the long-awaited audio quality controls.
Early versions were somewhat patchy, with frequent complaints about call handling and stability. Have Softick resolved these issues? Is it worth 20 of your hard-earned bucks? Where do babies come from? Read on for the full, gory autopsy. Erm, of the app. Not babies. That would be obviously be completely unconscionable.

Following in the wake of last week's
blog update by Paul Loefler, Palm has added a short blurb to the Windows
Vista support section of their site.
Palm has added the following text to their Palm Desktop 4.1.4e and 4.2 recommendations:
"Coming soon: Look for a beta release of the new Windows Vista-compatible Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager software this summer."
Palm is also including a note in the box of the new Sprint Treo 755p urging users not to install the bundled Palm Desktop 4.2 version but instead to check the above URL.
This blog post, the recent support site update, and the note in the 755p packaging are hopefully clear signs that a beta Vista-compliant Palm Desktop download will be available sooner rather than later. With the 755p already on the market, the 680 ROM recently updated, and the 700p ROM update hopefully just around the corner, addressing Windows Vista compliance should be near the top of Palm's immediate priority list.

After years of hints, veiled references and rampant speculation, the fruits of Jeff Hawkin's secret project are expected to be revealed next week. Hawkin's is scheduled to present at the Wall Street Journal’s D: All Things Digital next Wednesday in Southern California.
Hawkins himself has hinted earlier this year that Palm fans "should keep a close watch on" what he reveals during the elite technology industry conference. Numerous theories abound as to exactly what we will see, but a number of recent hints from Palm executives and a look back at some of Hawkin's quotes provide some rough clues. In this article we take a look back at all the events leading up to the announcement and try to piece together a preview of what to expect.
