Wichita Schools Standardize on the Palm TX

Wichita Public Schools is standardizing on the wireless Palm TX handheld computer for its seventh-grade technology program, Palm announced today. The school district purchased nearly 730 Palm TX handhelds as part of a major renovation of its technology curriculum for middle schools.

Celebrities Start Mo-Blogging from the Treo

BlogStar and Palm have announced a special application designed to take advantage of the text, picture, audio and video capabilities of Palm Treo smartphones. The new application will be used with BlogStar's new mobile blogging entertainment service, which features daily mobile entertainment content co-produced directly with celebrity artist partners.

LifeDrive and Pilot Contest Deadline Extended

Just a quick note to let you all know that the PalmInfocenter LifeDrive and Pilot 1000 Giveaway has been extended until the end of Tuesday April 11th. The reason being that I have been traveling this week and have been unable to help the few people who did not receive their sign up registration emails. Treo 700w Getting Push Email Update

Palm has just announced a software update for the Treo 700w smartphone that will enable the Windows Mobile Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP), which includes Direct Push Technology. The free update, which is expected to be available later this month, gives Treo 700w smartphone users automatic wireless updates of their email, calendar items, contacts and tasks, allowing IT managers to deliver this information directly from Exchange Server 2003 SP2 without incurring additional third-party infrastructure costs.

Astraware Sudoku Updated

Astraware's Sudoku has been updated to version 1.30. This new update includes an improved version for handheld devices running Palm OS 4, and a brand new menu system for Palm OS and Windows Mobile platforms.

Palm Treo 700p on May 15th?

Rumor: Engadget is reporting that a "trusted source" provided them with a May 15th announcement date for the Palm Treo 700p.

This would again confirm earlier Palm OS Treo 700p rumors posted on PalmInfocenter over the past few months. To recap, pictures of the Sprint branded 700p were first leaked in February, a rumored release date came out in mid-March as well as a targeted Sprint launch timeframe.

Leonard Maltin 2006 Movie Guide v2.0

LandWare has updated Leonard Martin's 2006 Movie Guide for Palm OS and Windows Mobile. The newly enhanced award-winning Movie Guide now offers instant access to the entire collection of Leonard Maltin's reviews, ratings and details. In addition this update includes over 170 new films and details to 850 films not found in the first 2006 software release.

Baseball Schedules on the Go

Baseball Schedules for Palm OSJust in time for opening day, Toysoft has released their 2006 Major League Baseball schedule and guide for Palm OS. mySchedule MLB includes all 30 MLB team's regular schedules, all team rosters, player salaries, coaches and staff listings. In addition, mySchedule includes a graphical view of player positions and game day games. You can also export any team's schedule to the DateBook or Calendar application with an alarm reminder so you never miss the first pitch.

mySchedule MLB requires Palm OS 5 or greater and a 320x320 pixel display. It comes with a free trial that only includes the roster and schedule for the Atlanta Braves. The full version includes all teams and sells for $10.00.

America Online has announced new mobile information and location services, including a mobile browsing service that automatically adapts Web pages for mobile screens.
