Palm and Movistar are now offering the Treo 650 smartphone to the Mexican market. The Treo 650 is latest Movistar corporate tool, Oficina movistar, for a portable mobile office solution.

Palm has released some positive comments about the PalmSource acquisition. In a email sent out to developers, Palm calls the announcement good news for Palm and the Palm Economy.

Shares of PalmSource today rose 78%, up $7.89 with very heavy volume, on news of the ACCESS acquisition. Also, some new details about the details of the acquisition have been released.

MobiTV, a live internet television service for mobile phones, is now available for Treo Smartphones. MobiTV is now available for Treo 650 users in the U.S. on Sprint, Cingular, and Verizon networks. The service will be available for other carriers in the U.S. and in other countries in the near future.

Palm has rereleased the Palm Desktop for Windows that was initially billed as version 4.2. It is now called version 4.1.4E. The E denotes that it is meant for devices with the extended PIM applications.

ACCESS Inc, a Tokyo-based company that develops mobile Internet software, said it will acquire PalmSource, for as much as 35.8 billion yen ($324 million) in an all cash deal.

ACCESS said in a release that it will make PalmSource a wholly owned subsidiary to expand applications for mobile phones.

Palm's stock today rose 7% to close at 34.59 on an analyst upgrade. A Needham & Co. analyst said sales of the company's Treo smartphones appear to be outpacing previous expectations.

Palm has released a new report on SD card compatibility with Palm handhelds and smartphones. The results explain which devices are compatible with 1 and 2GB size MMC and SD cards.

Palm has also updated the Windows version of the Palm Desktop to v4.2. The small updates doesn't offer any new features, but offers an improved installation path for users that upgrade from a previous device.

Palm support has released a small update to the Palm Desktop for the Mac OS X platform. The update adds better support for Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) and fixes a permission issue which can cause trouble with iSync.
