PalmGear has announced the release of StreamLync, a auto-install utility that greatly simplifies the Palm OS software download and install process. StreamLync is free software that works with the PalmGear website and enables "one touch" software installation.

The FCC has posted additional documents and pictures of the rumored Sony Clie TG50. Just last month the FCC posted preliminary details of the device. The Sony Clie PEG-TG50 likey runs Palm OS 5 and features an integrated keyboard, bluetooth and a built in flip cover.

Palm has released another patch for the Tungsten T model. This patch resolves slight issues with the digitizers accuracy on some handhelds. The digitizer is the device that registers screen taps and input.

DataViz has announced new technology that allows people to use documents in native file formats such as Word and Excel on a Palm OS device. This will allow users to create, edit or simply view files in their original Word and Excel format on the handheld itself. DataViz's new technology will be available in summer 2003.

PalmSource Layoffs: PalmSource said on Friday that it laid off roughly 18% of its workforce. The OS division made the cuts in response to weak economic conditions. "We're subject to the same market conditions that other companies are experiencing...We had to bring our costs in line with revenue," said PalmSource's senior VP of marketing, Gabi Schindler.
