Research In Motion (RIM) and Palm, Inc's Solutions Group along with Handspring have announced that they have signed an agreement in principle setting out the fundamental terms under which RIM will license certain RIM keyboard patents to them. Specific terms of the royalty-bearing licenses were not disclosed.

Palm, Inc. and Lexus announced that Lexus sales teams are now equipped with Palm m500 handhelds. Lexus has purchased 3,000 Palm m500 handhelds for use in dealerships nationwide. While customers test-drive vehicles, look under the hood or kick the tires, Lexus salespeople can access the most up-to-date and detailed vehicle information on the fly.

Handspring, today released a new version of its Treo Mail software that delivers improved email performance to Treo customers and adds support for Lotus Notes. At the Palm Inc Analyst day 2002 and in an interview with the
Register, PalmSource has begun to loosely discuss and divulge plans for the next generation Palm OS 6. The Reg puts it well when they say that OS 6 will be as big a change for PalmSource as OS X was for Apple.

Think Outside, makers of the Stowaway Portable Keyboard (PPK) for handheld devices, introduced their next generation Stowaway XT Keyboard. The XT keyboard is even smaller than the original Stowaway keyboard when closed yet remains rigid when open.
