Sony had dropped the price of the
PEG-T615 to $300 on its webstore, SonyStyle. Previously, the device was selling for $400. This price is available now.
Sony has already officially discontinued the Japanese version of this model. This price drop is probably intended to reduce the company's inventory as part of preparing to discontinue it in the U.S., too. Earlier this week, Sony announced the T650C in Japan, which will almost certainly be the replacement. It has not yet been announced anywhere else.
Update: Sony has also reduced the price of the PEG-S360 by $20 to $180.

Palm, Inc. today announced that fourth-quarter revenue will be approximately $230 million, compared with the previously expected $290 million to $300 million. In addition, the company said it will not meet its breakeven profitability expectations for the current quarter, which ends May 31, 2002.
Palm has cited a downturn in demand for handheld computers along with other technology products for missing prior estimates. Despite the downturn, the share of Palm branded and Palm OS handhelds in U.S. retail both grew over the last three months.

After weeks of rumors and speculation, Handspring has just officially announced the
Treo 90, a new mid-range color handheld. Despite being part of the Treo line, the 90 isn't a smartphone. It also isn't a Visor, as it lacks the signature Springboard slot. Instead, the Treo 90 is the first Handspring model to have an SD slot. In another first for the company, this is the first Handspring model to use Palm OS 4.0. It also has a built-in keyboard and 16 MB of RAM.
