BackupBuddy Software Releases Beta of WordSmith
BackupBuddy Software made several announcements today. First, the company has changed its name to Blue Nomad. Second, it has released a public beta of WordSmith, new word processor and doc reader.
WordSmith supports rich text, such as bold, italics and underline but also paragraph formatting, justification and font selection on the Palm. In addition, it has built-in support for the Stowaway keyboards and provides numerous pop-up menus, text selection options and Graffiti shortcuts.
WordSmith includes a bi-directional conduit for Windows Microsoft Word. WordSmith is also compatible with any word processor capable of reading and writing "RTF" files. It also includes a command-line converter for Linux users and separate document converter for the Macintosh.
WordSmith public beta trial version 1.0 is available as a free download from www.bluenomad.com. The trial version allows for 200 editing sessions. WordSmith’s beta version will be available for purchase starting the week of December 17. A special discount on WordSmith will be given to current Blue Nomad customers and users who purchase WordSmith during the beta period.

VERY COOL!!
So the downside? Real buggy so far. I haven't created any new documents yet, but I have tried to edit and convert old documents only to be bombarded with fatal exceptions and restarts galore. It could be due to the excessive amount of hacks on my system or just me being stupid - I haven't played with it enough to know which yet. But the concept and the application are there and that is the coolest part. Finally I can do italics, underlining, font size by *pixel*, and TONS more!! Finally a word processor worth using!
