The Week in Review: 4/29 - 5/5

It has been a very busy week. It started off with a bang on Sunday with Sony accidentally releasing all the details on the U.S. version of the new Clié. Sony officially announced it on Tuesday and on Wednesday we published a deeper look at the PEG-N710C's music playing abilities.

If that weren't enough, the Palm m505 first appeared in limited quantities on Wednesday, setting off the kind of activity that is usually only seen when you throw a live squirrel into a room with 50 thousand golden retrievers.

A Palm Infocenter staff member was able to get his hands on one and a review soon followed. However, the initial supplies quickly ran out and the search for more m505s continued.

Now that users are starting to get the m500 series into their hands, support for its expansions port is becoming important. A report on applications' support for all types of removable media, including SD, MMC, MemSticks, and Compact Flash, published on Thursday covered this issue.

This was the busiest week this site has ever had, both in terms of hits and user comments posted. Site usage all five weekdays was higher than our previous daily record and three days were 25% above the old record.

Thanks, Everyone!

I wanted to put out a blanket "Thank You" to everyone who helped make this week such a success, especially everyone who wrote in to help their fellow Palm users find the m505. I would like to personally thank whomever it was who said they had the m505 in Kennesaw because you helped me get mine the first day.

I decided calling myself 'Plenipotentiary' was too vague. I think people thought I run the site when I'm really just News Editor. Ryan actually owns the site and handles all the coding, advertising, paper work and such. I just have a higher-profile position.

I have a Palm IIIc and just got AvantGo. That's how I first heard of your site. I like reading the articles about trends in handheld usage. It's nice that handheld use is growing in general (I really enjoy mine!), and there are many things that can be put onto and done with such handhelds. Keep up the great work & info.

New Palm m505 - thanks for the help

Thank you, Ed, for all the information on the Palm m505. I got mine on Friday - Comp USA did not think they had any, but I had called before I went tot the store. All of your comments were right on the money. I had exceptional trouble getting the stylus out of the side and would have thought that it was just mine if you had not told me. I, too, am not partivcularly impressed with the color, but am happy with everything else and will be extremely satisfied once I get the dictionary/thesaurus card which is what I really want. I had a Palm V which had just too little memory and was planning to upgrade when I saw the news of the new palm m505 coming out. So I decided to get the newest. Thanks for all your information. Your site was very helpful to me.

Great Job
