- The datebook new Agenda view combines the days appointments and To-Do's
- Built in snooze for alarms
- Auto-completion of text for address inputs

User Input?
Thomas Jackson @ 11/3/1999 10:47:55 PM #
this new feature list looks great, especially the agenda view. One question though, are user suggestions being accepted?
RE: User Input?
From what I gathered at PalmSource, the feature set is locked. WIth 3.5, they are concentrating mostly on the APIs, namely color and the HAL.
OS ?
Will Palm (I have a IIIx) owners like myself be able to upgrade to this likewe can upgrade our OS to 3.3 ? Or will we be forced to buy a whole new Palm Device ? I hope not, otherwise I wont be having color! :-)
RE: OS ?
The guys at PalmSource were saying it was totally up to the hardware guys to release OS3.5 for their flash upgradable units.
I would be VERY suprised if OS3.5 was not made available for upgrading "older" units. Mostly because the developer CDs which they gave out at the conference had ROM builds for color, EZ and nonEZ devices.
Linux on 3.5

Will these new Palm devices be able to run Linux? That would be the ultimate in coolness.

Um... not without some tweaking.
And Linux would not "run" on top of OS 3.5, it would have to _replace_ it. The Linux on Palm project has thus far been able to get the Dragonball CPU to boot an extremely stripped-down
linux kernal, BUT to see it run, you need a continuous serial connection to the device, and you're actually running a text shell to access the device. There is NO support for the LCD display at this time. Upshot... way too early.

Mac software update?? Where to find?
Sailsong.@aol.com @ 12/28/1999 11:45:52 AM #
I just bought a Palm V for use with my Mac. The version that came with it was 2.0 I believe. Isn't there an updated version? Where can I download it?
