Palm Embraces Mobile Phones

Computer Currents has an article on the GSM World Congress. At the congress Palm Computing showed off a variety of mobile applications with its Palm PDA working across GSM connections using hardware from Alcatel, Motorola and Sagem. They don't mention what Palm they used, but it was able to access wireless Web Clipping apps and WAP sites.

They used Visors

I saw something on 3sat (German TV) about the meeting. There was a black (?) Visor shown, that was communicating via GSM. But I have seen it just for a few seconds. Hmm, a GSM Springboard....

Having attended GSM World, I can assure you that:

1) Palm V's were displayed connected to Mobile Phones via cables
2) Software was shown that has been proven for some time now such as
a) Handweb
b) PQA

3) Palm devices proved to be much more flexible and useful than WAP

I use my Palm IIIx with a Motorola Timeport for IR mailing,using my regular ISP...
